Title~ Excuses, Excuses
Author~ Annarti
Disclaimer~ Still mine
Notes~ kawa~ 141. Was going to be the most recent Genesis... but it drifted so much from the topic within the first couple of sentences that I gave up and made a kawa~ for it. Cos I cheat =3

Nol yanked his dagger from the target and slipped it back into its sheath, handing Gylepi’s back to him.
His face suddenly broke into a grin as he looked over at the door, raising one hand to attract Garuk’s attention. “He emerges!”
“Hmm?” Gylepi took his dagger and looked back over his shoulder, then grinned as the archer wove his way through the crowd. “So what’s your excuse this year?”
Garuk frowned in genuine confusion as he rested one elbow on the bar. “Excuse for what?”
Nol and Gylepi grinned lopsidedly at each other before Nol answered. “Why, taking time out of your busy schedule to demonstrate your exquisite skills with a bow to the next generation.”
“Showing off to the trainees?”
“Yeah.”
“Same as every year; I don’t like showing off.”
Gylepi folded his arms triumphantly; Nol swore and dug into his pocket. “One Venom. That was the deal, right?”
The taller archer shook his head ruefully. “Oh no no no, you bet the full Sunset. Pay up, princey boy.”
Nol fished the relevant coin out of his pocket, tapping it on the bar to attract Kal’s attention. “You’re going to have to get over it eventually,” he told Garuk, “It’s part of the territory.”
Garuk shrugged and looked over at where a few of the swordies had taken over the dagger toss board. “I haven’t gotten used to it in the past decade. I’m hardly going to change for ten minutes of showing off to a bunch of seventeen-year-olds once a year.”
“I’m with Garuk,” Gylepi volunteered. “I’m making Murali do it for me next year.”
The prince half-raised his eyebrows. “You’re wimps, both of you. I hate to think what the poor trainees would be subjected to if you both had to show up at the same time.”
Gylepi shook his head. “No, see, I’d be fine they actually took notes on technique, learned from the whole experience, but they’re clearly just there to boast to their friends afterwards that they met two of the guys in the Own.”
“And then they get annoyed when you don’t recognise them three months later when they happen to be training at the same time,” Garuk agreed.
Nol shook his head again. “Wimps.”
“Just get my Sunset.”
