Rise and Fall ~ Rumal's song
Southerner ~ Rumal's introductory mini!fic
Rumal, best swordsman in the kingdom, longest serving Own rider, and came out decidedly hotter than he was supposed to. He's supposed to have the kind of face that only looks hot if he wants it to, and can be reeeeaaally freaking scary if he wants to be. Still, I don't think he'll be complaining somehow, so whatever. And I forgot to finish colouring Lightfoot's eye. Oops. Pretend it's brown. I can't be buggered rescanning =P
So yeah. Rumal. He's a southern boy, much as he hates to admit it. Not from the south of the country, that'd be respectable. Rumal's a Ni-Yana boi, from south of the Main Road, where all the nasty-pasties of the city live. Rumal was veeery much a nasty-pastie. See those four scars on the back of his right wrist? He got them when he was a kiddy living down there, and he nicked stuff. Food, money with which to buy food, clothes, shiny things to sell for money, whatever took his fancy. And he got caught by the cops four times, for stealing a dagger, a bread roll, a basket of dates, and six silver coins. Once you get four parallel scars on the back of your right wrist, they start chopping off your fingers.
So of course, eeeveryone in Ni-Yana assumes that Rumal lost his right pinkie in the same way, which makes him rather pissy, to put it lightly. He's better at restraining himself now, but he still gets incredibly angry, especially when the right buttons are pushed. Yasee, he actually lost that finger on a mission, and the lack of it, or so he tells himself, was the direct cause of Naraan's death. So when people start teasing him about it at the pub, heads roll. Well, not that bad, but chances are there'll be blood.
He was married once, but when he god into the Own, he and his wife started living the high life, and he very deliberately lost contact with all his old mates. They got pissy with him, pissy enough that they killed his wife. The punnishment in Raykin for murder is the death sentence, so once they were found out that was the end of them.
So now, Rumal has nothing of his old life but the scars on the back of his wrist, and that's the way he likes it, though he would rather his wife didn't die. He's even pretty much shed his southern districts accent, and it really only comes out when he's angry, excited or drunk.
Oh yeah, his sword~ X3 I love Rumal's sword. The gold and copper flower on the guard is Gemili Aeiaa, the flower of death or Aeia's flower, however you want to translate it, and the one on the pommel is Gemili Lina, flower of life or Lin's flower. Come on, now that is a cool sword <3
Rumal is probably my favourite swordie to write, I think. There's a lot to him =3
