NAME Crown Princess Evelandel of Llayad
WHO IS THIS PERSON Next in line to the throne of Llayad, the kingdom to the east of Raykin. She's also Lynnlita's eldest sister.
GENDER Female
AGE 35
BRIEF BIO Evelandel was born to rule. I don't just mean the obvious, being the first-born child of the monarchs, but she has always wanted to rule. From a very young age she was asking if she could sit in on council meetings, talking to the castle servants and staff so they could air their grievances at her, and forming arguments that no child should be able to form. She did the traditional royal meet-and-greet at age 10 along with her little brother Kuhedrin, who had only a couple of years previous decided he was Prince Kuhedrin and not Princess, and found herself taking on a very mature role in typically immature Raykin and typically sexist Kazin. The trip opened her eyes to the closed minds of the people she was to eventually be dealing with, and that was when she really wanted to make a concerted effort at opening them. It remains her greatest ambition.
She first met Georgio as a teenager, but didn't really notice him until he started working at the castle when she was 21. After a couple of months they started officially courting, announced their engagement two years later, then married the year after that. They toured the kingdom and also around the continent, introducing the new crown prince to the world and further reinforcing Evelandel's belief that the rest of the world needed to open its eyes. They're both just as politically minded, and the Llayan council is (quietly) looking forward to the time when the pair of them take the throne.
Evelandel has one daughter, Anakarina, probably because I've been too lazy to come up with any others. She's as dedicated a mother as any Llayan, and is bringing her daughter up to be the same just and polite ruler she hopes to be herself.
CHARACTER Queenly. She just is. She's everything that embodies a future ruler. She'll listen to the problems of others and do her best to fix them, but at the same time knows when to politely tell them their cause is a lost one, or point them to someone who can help better. She's very aware of how she must appear to both the government members and to the public, in her appearance and her temperament. She's never seen to be losing her temper, however much she may be fuming inside. She smiles often, but in such a way that it still feels special to whoever she's turning her smile towards. She's a genuine, noble person.
POINTS OF INTEREST
I would've used Cassie as reference for drawing her, except there's a ten year age gap there, so Morgana it is. She's nicer than Morgana, though.
Evelandel is the single, solitary Llayan who Nolryn has ever respected. He's never admitted as such to her, but the fact he calls her 'Your Highness' is confirmation enough for her.
She's not perfect. She's still Llayan royalty, and still holds the 'I know better than you' attitude that it generally entails. She just doesn't force her opinions down people's throats as much as her parents or baby sister, so she seems a lot more pleasant because of that.
