Character 100-ish 056: Gylepi

ALL RIGHT OWN RIDER. This one I really CAN answer questions about :D

Big dorky grins are hard. It definitely looks like Gylepi but not sure he looks dorky enough.

NAME Gylepi
WHO IS THIS PERSON Archer in the current Raykinian King's Own, the fifteen best warriors in the kingdom
GENDER Male
AGE 30

BRIEF BIO Gylepi could have been the epitome of privileged upper-class entitled kid, brought up the son of a high-level-Company archer and... idk what his dad did. He's technically half-desert--both his grandfathers made the move, but both were dead before he was born, and neither of his parents saw reason to teach him desert magic. Growing up in the very upper-class 29th District, they figured he'd never needed it.
They also forced him to start army training at 14, which Gylepi hated himself at the time. He didn't try for the first year and a half, until his archery master picked up on his natural skill and brought it to Gylepi's attention. Over the course of the next year or so, with his archery master encouraging him and giving him less reason to want to rebel against his parents, he started to actually enjoy his lessons and his training, not just with the bow but with other weapons, too.
At eighteen, one day in the marketplace, he met a lovely young lady painting a sunset on the riverbanks. Gylepi was watching over her shoulder for a while before she noticed, at which point he awkwardly complemented her on her painting, for which she awkwardly thanked him. They talked for the rest of the evening, growing more natural the longer they talked, until Gylepi awkwardly asked to walk her home, to which Aari accepted. He asked if she'd like to see him again, and she said yes. They married two years later and have had two kiddies together; the three of them are Gylepi's life. His son, Ruyn, was bitten by a thrai when he was only three. Yamin was able to save his life, but little Ruyn's blind now. Both of them are terribly spoiled and his daughter, Lania, is a bit of a brat when Gylepi's not around, but he loves them both so much.
Backtracking a little bit, Gylepi was accepted into the King's Own at 22, the year after he graduated from army training. He'd been teased a little bit for his desert heritage during training, but his personality meant nobody ever really meant it in earnest. By a week into his first mission, he was cursing his parents for not teaching him any desert magic--as the boys like to say now, Gylepi couldn't navigate his way out of a paper bag. When Nimay joined, she briefly tried teaching him, but yeah it's the kind of thing you have to learn as a kid. Gylepi was a lost cause.

CHARACTER Dorky daddy! He's a casual, easy-going bloke who (...if you'd been living under a rock and didn't recognise him on sight) you would never guess at his high standing in Ni-Yana. He loves the simple things in life, returning home from a mission, being with his family, seeing his son or daughter smile up at him, watching sunsets with his wife, all that stuff just makes him happy. He hates everyone's assumptions of what Own life is like, especially people who assume they know him without having even met him before. He can have a nasty habit of getting angry at himself and taking that anger out on others, but mostly he's pretty chilled.

POINTS OF INTEREST
  • He's a pretty good swordsman, too. The other swordies in the Own rate him at Third or Fourth Company.
  • Gylepi is his family. I can't emphasise that enough. Whenever he has a moment on a mission to think, his thoughts always return to his family.

I like the face. Ugh. So attractive why? WHY?

Also you know, he's a daddy-daddy and that is like the best thing. A man thinking of his family and kidlets is always an amazing gorgeous man.
