I never realised before this challenge that I had a Haoi and a Haori, and they're both important, middle-aged ladies in Raykin's upper ranks. Goddamnit.

At least she looks significantly different from Haoi. Saggy faces are so much fun. I keep saying that but it's TRUE.
NAME Third General Haori
WHO IS THIS PERSON General of the archers First Company in the Raykinian army, but the reason she's coming up here is because she's also the theory master for Raykin's army trainees
GENDER Female
AGE 51
BRIEF BIO Aww man another warrior backstory. HOKAY. So. Haori comes from a very artistic family. Her father was a travelling storyteller until he settled in Ni-Yana with her mother, a sketch artist with her pencils. Her older brother and sister both followed in their parents' artistic footsteps, but Haori never felt it herself. She liked her father's stories well enough, but the real stories, the stories about wars and heroes, and she wanted to be one of them herself.
It took a lot of convincing, but eventually, at age 20, she got her parents to allow her to start army training. The theory was where she really found her love, the history and the tactics and all that stuff. While all the boys were training hardest with their weapons to have a stab (badoom-tish) at getting into the Own, Haori buried herself in study to become a general. She loved the weapons training, too, and dedicated just as much time to that aspect, but she knew she wanted to rise to general level.
She graduated at 27 into Fourth Company, then made it to general at 31. She's led two campaigns to the borderlands, where Kazinians start raiding the vital beer-making towns along the border, but nothing since it was realised that the Own was cheaper to send up there than Fourth Company.
Mithé doesn't like war, y'see, so she's had bugger-all to do. So Haori kept training and elbowed her way into First Company as her new challenge. Once she'd made it to General of First Company, and respected the Second General enough that she didn't want to oust him from his position, she instead went for the position of teaching the trainees theory, and there she is.
CHARACTER Loves a challenge. Haori's always looking for the next challenge in her life, always getting itchy feet with where she is now, but she's not stupid enough to wish for battle and war just so she's got something to do. She hunts for knowledge, reading up on past wars that Raykin had no involvement. Huge respect for her superiors, the First General, Second Generals and of course King Mithé. She's a stern woman and a strong leader, instantly commands respect when she steps into a room.
POINTS OF INTEREST
Haori's career highlight was training Nimay, who of course went on to become general of the King's Own.
Technically she trained Nol, too, but he already knew his shit and was more a second teacher than a student in the lessons. He learnt from all the other generals as much as from her.

At least she looks significantly different from Haoi. Saggy faces are so much fun. I keep saying that but it's TRUE.
