Notes~ Introduction to Creative Writing, Exercise 1. Different subjuect to the Intro to Creative Writing the last assignment was for. Don't ask me how; it's complicated XD; Anyway! This time the assignment was to write 400 words (omfgSHORT) of fic starting with the line "I've never told anyone this, but..." and having it include dialogue. Yeah... I preferred the other Intro to Creative Writing. Still, this should be fun enough, even if the assignments for it do only take me half an hour =P Also, no, there's no place setting going on here whatsoever, unlike the first one. I only had 400 words; there's no room for place setting and~ dialogue in that!
I hope this thing wasn't supposed to be autobiographical, cos otherwise I'm a might buggered >>;

“I’ve never told this to anyone, but…”
“So why’re you telling me?”
Nolryn glanced up from his beer at the barman, a conspirator’s glint in his eye and a half-cocked grin on his lips.
Kal rested his elbows on the bar bench, leaning in to hear the prince’s secretive whisper.
“Because if they hear it from me, they’ll take it as fact.” He touched his nose with one finger then pointed at the barman. “Hear it from you, and it’s nothing more than a rumour.”
Kal laughed and shook his head, standing back and unslinging the towel from his shoulder to continue polishing glasses.
Nolryn shrugged and took a swig from his glass. “It’s true,” he said matter-of-factly.
“If that’s your reckoning, Highness. I can be pretty convincing though, I’ll warn you now.” He paused in his polishing again, pointing the glass meaningfully at Nolryn. “They’re still half of them dead set certain that the record’s still mine.”
Nol blinked and his eyes widened, before narrowing accusingly at the grinning barman. He could never tell whether that man was being serious or not. Especially not now. “Sweep the desert,” he decided finally.
“Dead cert! Ask any number of them tomorrow night. Three and a half Liquid Sunsets in one go, never been broken.”
“I did four last year! You can’t argue with that.”
Kal shook his head ruefully as he ran his towel around another beer glass. “You did three. Good effort, but not the record.”
The prince frowned, trying to think back to the record-breaking attempt. “It was four,” but the uncertainty was already starting to creep into his voice.
Kal gave another shake of his head and set the sparkling glass under the counter. “Three.”
Nolryn sighed heavily. He could have been sure that before he’d lifted a glass, he’d definitely seen four Liquid Sunsets lined up in front of him.
Unless maybe the barman had stolen the forth one away while he was still on his second…
Kal laughed suddenly and sharply when he looked up at Nol’s confused expression. “There, you see? Almost had you convinced there too.”
Nol was still too confused to give much more than a half-hearted grin in response.
“So,” Kal said again, crossing his arms back on the bar bench, “What’s this thing you were going to tell me that you’ve never told anyone, but…?”
The prince blinked a few times. “I have no idea.”
