Bekala, roughly based on the song After all these years by Silverchair.
Name~ Bekala
Age~ 33
Currently Appearing In~ Bugger-all so far, but her minifics will appear here when I get around to them.
Orientation~ Straight
Origin~ Ni-Qewira, second largest city in Raykin, near-ish to the coast
Significant Other(s)~ Husband: Garuk, archer of the King's Own
Background~ Bekala was actually born in Ni-Yana, but moved to Ni-Qewira when she was 2, so she doesn't remember anything of the big smoke. Her father actually rode with the Own, but very, very briefly--he was killed on his first mission, hence the move from Ni-Yana to Ni-Qewira. She's always been bitter about how much the Own has been talked up, made to look like gods, when they can in fact die. They're not as good as they're made out to be.
When she was 12, her mother's boss was killed, (we don't know why, but pirates is an exciting option, so we'll take that) so they all moved back to Ni-Yana. A few years later, she met Garuk, and they found that they had quite a bit in common--both from Ni-Qewira, neither could see why the Own was so special, and probably other, more positive things.
After she turned 15, she started working in the kitchens at a small pub, and has since move up to a classy little restaurant in the high-end. She still works there even though Garuk's been in the Own for 12 years, because she wants to have a stable job in case he doesn't come back from a mission, and she's left on her own.
Anyway, by this point, Garuk was also making a bit of a name for himself--he passed his final exams at 19, a good three years earlier than most, was already admitted to First Company, and was well on his way to becoming the youngest Own rider in history.
Bekala couldn't care less. She could see more in him than that, and was quite happy to beat off any other encroaching fangirls with a stick.
The two of them have arguements every now and then about Garuk being in the Own, especially when they returns from a mission one man down, but she's having a damn hard time convincing him--he's been there 12 years and isn't looking like leaving any time soon XD;
Employment~ Chef at a classy restaurant in Ni-Yana's high end, which has gained popularity since the public found out one of the Own's wives works there. Bekala rolls her eyes at this and refuses to go out and meet with the patrons.
Appearance~ Bekala's a shortarse, which is really quite amusing when she's standing next to Garuk, who is an archer and almost by default a tall bugger XD; Makes her look about a decade younger than he is, hee X3 She's not the prettiest thing going aound, had bad acne as a teenager and so has a bit of a pockmarked face because of it, somewhat pearshaped figure, but she does have a lovely smile, if slightly crooked in the teeth X3 Long hair usually kept back with a headband.
Distinguishing Characteristics~ Not really. She's pretty unremarkable.
Quirks~ She likes going to the pub, but she doesn't drink. I KNOW! Shock horror scandal! =0!
Sin-of-Anger~ Yep, bit of a temper on this one. Especially when anyone tries to come onto Garuk even when she's RIGHT THERE, when anyone starts talking about the Own as though they're gods, and~ whenever Garuk refuses to resign.
Sin-of-Envy~ Nah not really.
Sin-of-Pride~ Nup, she couldn't care less about Garuk's archery skills.
Sin-of-Gluttony~ Definitely not. Her dad used to be in the Own, and despite the money he earnt then, and from being in First Company before that, there wasn't a lot left when he died, so Bekala's mum had to get a job. She doesn't want to be left in that situation herself at all.
Sin-of-Lust~ Not a lot, no.
Sin-of-Avarice~ She wants Garuk to quit the Own so she can keep him for the rest of her life. I don't think that's particularly greedy tho.
Sin-of-Sloth~ AHAHAHAHAHA no.
Virtues~ Despite being married to the best archer in the kingdom, Bekala's a very independant woman. She can look after herself and keep herself busy when Garuk's away on a mission, but she loves him enough that she breaks down occasionally, especially when he's been gone a month and she knows that's when he crosses the border, and when they're due to return soon, because what if they're only 14 this time, and Garuk's the one missing? She loves her Garuk, aww.
