Not a NaNo 10: Prince Misbah

Back to my Not-A-Nano, which is looking increasingly unlikely to reach 30 characters by the end of the month, but I did manage to layout everything. Check out yrae if you haven't already :D

NAME Prince Misbah of Llayad
WHO IS THIS PERSON Princess Lynnlita and Prince Kanera's second child. Lynnlita is the fourth child of the Llayan ruling family, and Kanera is the second child of Kazin's.
GENDER Male
AGE Doesn't exist yet; pictured at, idk, he was supposed to be in his early 30s but he looks more like a 20-year-old. Whatever.

BRIEF BIO Misbah has a bit of a complex. He's the middle child of a prince and a princess, but neither of them have any ambition in taking their kingdom's/empire's throne and Misbah himself has NO chance of sitting on them either. He briefly entertained ambitions of rising through Kazin's army ranks, but after his first visit to his father's homeland at age twelve, when he experienced first-hand how much his gender was disdained there, he quickly gave up on that idea.
Misbah then tried wheedling his way into the Llayan Council, but Auntie Evelandel and cousin Anakarina (who by this point is probably, like, a decade older than him. I know, I drew her as a 7-year-old, deal with it guys >>) are both astute enough to know he wants the position for power, not for any desire to help Llayad. But he's family, so they gave him a chance to prove himself, sending him on diplomatic errands to castles and sending him out to meet the people and learn what they really want in a leader. Misbah doesn't like having to prove himself, but he so badly wants to be in power that he'll put up with it. At least, he does while they're watching. If he knew how to organise himself, he'd probably be quite dangerous, but those who ARE in power can see right through him. Sucked in, Misbah.

CHARACTER Misbah is a grumpy little bitch, when it comes down to it. He wants what he feels his station should offer him--he's the son of TWO royal households, not just one, and feels rather put-upon that he's at best 20th in line to any thrones. If he wasn't quite so obvious about it, he'd probably be dangerous to those at the top, but even then he probably wouldn't have the guts to start offing his own family. Give him a couple more decades yet.

POINTS OF INTEREST

Misbah was almost named Sahid, in honour of Kanera's late brother, but Kanera managed to talk Lynnlita out of it. She got her way by naming him after Kanera's father, instead. Being Lynnlita, she probably planned this from the start.

He wishes, so SO bad that his mum had managed to snag Nolryn. Then he'd at least be second in line to a throne and not five-millionth.

He wears dark green, orange and yellow in honour of his father's Colours, even though he doesn't get to wear any actual Colours himself (Colours are passed through the female line in Kazin, and of course Lynnlita doesn't have any. She does have a name, though, so he quite likes that. Misbah Wensleydale sounds freaking weird, though.)

I am glad you got back to this, cos I FINALLY get to say that doing a picture during NaNo month.. a picture is worth 1000 words... you need to do 50. GET WORKING.

Also cos I'm loving them. Especially THESE. The little second generations. I love seeing what traits they inherit and what their lives make them into.

I love the idea of Kanera and Lynnlita having mini-tiffs over the names of the babies and Lynnlita finding her cheeky ways around it lol

Lynnlita is Llayan, there must be tradition in EVERYTHING. She probably wants to name one Assili but that would just be way too goddamned confusing.

If I can finish the un-created ones before the end of the year, then I'll be happy. Then I can start on the characters who HAVE been created (albeit some half-arsedly at best) fresh on January 1. I CHALLENGE YOU TO DO YOUR NEXT 100 WITH ME because your strength will give me strength. Or something.

It is SO MUCH FUN! Looking at them when they're done, when half an hour ago I had nothing more than a name, is pretty damn cool X3
