Working on Raykinian complexion. It's always been hard. Damn them.
Possibly he should look more devious, but trying to find androgynous refs who are just SMILING is really hard, let alone looking cheeky.
NAME Yoryl
WHO IS THIS PERSON Blade archer in the current Raykinian King's Own, elite warrior dudes.
GENDER Male
AGE 26
BRIEF BIO Yoryl grew up in Ni-Yana's upper-middle class where he met Kila as a kid. They started 'dating' pretty early, when Yoryl was 12, just because that was pretty much Kila's view on things. Yoryl was good friends with her, and figured that was what love was, so he rolled with it and called her girlfriend and was generally pretty happy with things.
He signed up for army training at the traditional 15, but he started out with the sword purely because it was the most glamorous and Kila liked it. But then that same year was the year when Kaen was accepted into the King's Own. Yoryl watched his challenge, annnnd pretty much developed a crush right there. He switched to blade archery to follow Kaen, hoping to some day meet him.
At the same time, he realised what he had with Kila wasn't love, just friendship that she wanted to be more. He didn't know how to break it to her that actually he was gay, because Yoryl is a chicken, so instead he just kept tagging along because he didn't want to hurt her feelings. And because he's a chicken. She probably didn't notice anything because they'd known each other since they were kids and she thought that was just Yoryl, not really attaching any extra meaning to his flamboyance.
He trundled on through army training, totally killing it with the blade archery but largely sucking monkey balls with everything else, then graduated at 22 into First Company. He worked damn hard at that blade archery, always with Kaen in his sights, and was rewarded with an Own challenge two years after he graduated. He beat Garyn, the other blade archer at the time, and was admitted into the elite ranks of the King's Own.
Pretty much as soon as he stepped into the public eye, rumours started that he had a thing for Kaen. Yoryl tried covering them up for maybe a month, but Kila soon caught on and confronted him about it. Yoryl FINALLY took his out and admitted it to her, at which point she legged it downstream and Yoryl danced happily out of the closet.
He's one of the newer members of the Own, so he's only been on two missions himself (the first being when Rau was killed, so that was a baptism of fire) and obviously Kaen hasn't returned any affections, but whatever, Yoryl'll get over him eventually and find a nice boy to settle down with, I'm sure.
CHARACTER Carefree, flamboyant, devious, really really irritating. Apart from the gay, Yoryl is the stereotype of a blade archer, always playing pranks and throwing things at people just because he can, complete showoff, life of the party and just loves having fun. Yoryl is the laziest of the Own, always having to be dragged out of bed and to mission briefings. He hates serious situations and he's the first to get scared on missions. He goes pretty much silent when he's scared.
POINTS OF INTEREST
Yoryl's favourite meal is a steak, well done.
His greatest regret is that he hasn't got the guts to just plant one on Kaen.
He gets openly terrified on the eve of the border crossing. He draws his knees to his chest and wraps his arms around himself, clinging to his shoulders to keep his hands from shaking.
