Date: 2014-04-30 10:10 am (UTC)Crap conversationalist! He's not good with words =(
3. Name one or more of his bad habits.
Kurae is phenomenally self-conscious so he makes sure to never let any bad habits make it out in public. Does avoiding confrontations count? Probably not.
6. [What is one thing he does that can negatively affect] his romantic relationships?
PICKING ON SEB'S BROTHER >( He still largely avoids confrontation with the man, but nitpicks him when he's not around with the stupid hope that Seb will do the confronting for him.
9. Name some of his major physical shortcomings.
HE'S SHORT *badum-tish* Face like a brick shithouse with a brow so heavy he looks like he's constantly scowling even when he's feeling perfectly happy and relaxed about things. I'm not counting scars because everyone knows they're not a shortcoming.

Date: 2014-04-30 10:21 am (UTC)She's too young to have really acquired. I'd hesitate to say power, since she seems to be coping well enough without it, but that's likely to change in the future when she's PROPERLY empress. Maybe not an addiction, but she could still get drunk on it.
8. What mistake(s) does she continue to make/has not learned from?
Assili's been brought up to believe she doesn't make mistakes, it's all the people around her that do, so basically every mistake she's ever made she's not learned from. She is learning now though that she's not infallible, and far from that, that everything is her fault, which is a BIG lesson for her to be learning. It's my favourite part of her character :D
12. At least one thing that she tends to overreact to.
She tries not to overreact, because she knows that's seen to be childish, and Assili HATES to be seen as a child. The fact that her mother can screech and throw a hissy-fit and get people grovelling at her feet, while the same from Assili would earn her rolled eyes and mutterings behind her back, has always rankled with her. She throws her tantrums in private =3

Date: 2014-04-30 10:41 am (UTC)For both of them, the lack of speech, especially in Yamin. Many people are kind of unnerved about not getting any worded response out of them, but because Nimay's much more extroverted it's not quite so obvious with her.
4. Any addictions? (Food, sex, drugs/alcohol, shopping, power/control, etc.)
Nimay is addicted to fitness, I guess you'd say. She goes stir-crazy if she's sitting still for too long, is the first to be training during a heatwave, and is sad when pub night comes to a close.
Yamin has no addictions.
7. What is the biggest mistake they’ve ever made?
Yamin's a healer, so I'm sure at some point she's misdiagnosed someone or given someone something they've been allergic to.
For Nimay, not using her magic for healing to its full extent. She never learned properly how the body worked and so didn't know how to use it when Naraan was shot. Especially since meeting Yamin and realising what it can do, and how easy it would have been to heal Naraan's wound, this has been her greatest regret.
8. What mistake(s) do they continue to make/have not learned from?
Nimay is ONLY JUST learning that trying to push Nol to do something will only make him more stubborn and less likely to do the thing. Also, she's one of those who, for example, will always look in the left drawer for the thing when she KNOWS it's in the right drawer, but through force of habit she just keeps pulling the wrong damn drawer out, or forgets to pack that same one thing every mission and has to go all the way to the other side of the palace to get it every goddamned time.
Yamin keeps overdoing her magic and exhausting herself. For example, if someone's broken their leg, she could just stick the bone back together and let the natural healing process do its thing, but she'll smooth it back so there's not so much as a bruise there anymore. She doesn't need to go that far, and she ends up exhausting herself because of it.
15. How might they be ignorant or prejudiced?
Both of them, about aaaanything non-Raykinian. Nimay is less prejudiced against Kazinians than most of the Own, but she still has her preconceived ideas about them, all based on her own experiences because all Kazinians must treat everyone the same way as how they treat Raykinian warriors there to stab and shoot their countrymen. YEP.
They're both completely ignorant about Llayad and Tsayth. Really most of what they know about both places has come from Nol, which they both know to take with a grain of salt.

Date: 2014-04-30 11:04 am (UTC)MILLIONS. Okay aside from the obvious and very spoilery one, which I know you're not asking about, he~ makes political mistakes daily when he's in Ni-Yana. So far he's always had Mithé to put out the fires before they've done any irreparable damage, but he's still offended a good many foreign dignitaries which is doubtless going to come back to bite him. The collective bad mistakes just make him unreliable in the political world. Poor boy.
12. At least one thing that he tends to overreact to.
SNAKES. And, previously, magic, but he's much better about that now. New stuff he hasn't seen before still makes his skin crawl a bit.
Also being inside rooms made of grey stone but I haven't written that yet so he doesn't know he overreacts to that yet and that's not overreacting so much as PTSD so I don't know if that counts anyway.15. How might he be ignorant or prejudiced?
PFFFF Okay so Nol pretty much perpetuates the negative stereotypes of everything he's not. South of the Main Road they're all thieves and killers. Blade archers are childish pranksters and swordies are stuckups who think they're better than everyone else in the army. Kazinians are snide, sly and money-hungry and will always blame someone else for their own faults. Llayans are verbose time-wasters, and they're so polite they're rude. Tsayth is thankfully too far away for him to have formed much of a prejudice against.
Really the only not rich-Raykinian-archer group he has no prejudice against are the desert people, which probably comes from having grown up with the twins. He's still completely ignorant of their traditions, but he doesn't judge them negatively based on their desert origins.
19. Is there anything he refuses to budge on? What is he stubborn about?
Really for Nol it's more about who's trying to budge him and how they're going about it, rather than his own personal beliefs. He's incredibly stubborn, but if his beliefs are challenged in the right way then he can be swayed to most things in the end. It just might take you a year or several to bring him around.
20. What is a self-inflicted misery of theirs? (i.e. something they perpetuate themselves)
He's royalty; it's always his fault. Technically this is the lesson Mithé taught him as a kid, but he's taken it on board much more strongly than Mithé ever intended and has made it his own. While obviously not an irresponsible misery, it does mean he finds it hard to relinquish control, knowing the responsibility will ultimately fall to him. He has to know everything.
Also, the bleeding obvious and spoilerific 'biggest mistake' not mentioned in question 7.

Date: 2014-04-30 11:33 am (UTC)1. What is one thing others might find intolerable about her?
She's forceful enough with her opinions that she's almost a bully with them.
2. Does she have any annoying quirks? If so, what are they?
...She's forceful enough with her opinions that she's almost a bully with them :D She also loves to ask questions that she knows will rile a response out of people, questions that she terms the beginning of a healthy debate.
4. Any addictions? (Food, sex, drugs/alcohol, shopping, power/control, etc.)
Goodness no =O Lynnlita's jolly prim and proper. She's a bit of a control freak but has no issues relinquishing it to those who outrank her (parents, older siblings... 'sabout it) so I wouldn't call it an addiction. It's not like she sets out to dominate people.
7. What is the biggest mistake she's ever made?
Deciding to pursue Nolryn to the exclusion of all others. She's not going to win and she could've probably found someone who DOES want her by now if she hadn't been so stubborn.
9. Name some of her major physical shortcomings.
I~ don't know that she has any. Her boobies must get annoying sometimes.
10. Some of her emotional shortcomings?
She's a bit of a hopeless romantic. She has her childhood dreams of marrying her handsome foreign prince and still hasn't outgrown them which, despite her otherwise intelligent conversation, can make her seem quite childish.
11. What are her intellectual shortcomings?
She views the world outside Llayad, especially traditions and cultures, as quaint curiosities. She makes a point of being open and accepting of... those she doesn't disagree with (Raykin's tradition of beer, less so) but she's more fascinated by them as stories and doesn't quite believe that people actually live that way--or want to live that way--all the time.
17. When would she be too judgmental of someone or something?
When she's having a 'healthy debate' that the other party just sees as nitpicking or bullying. Also beer. Or whenever anyone doesn't want to be classy. Beer isn't classy.

Date: 2014-05-02 03:03 pm (UTC)He's a BLADE ARCHER he has a million, and he does them because they're annoying. He throws nuts/pebbles/whatever comes to hand at people just because he can (and being the best blade archer in the kingdom, he hits you right in the ear every time); he taps spoons/fingernails/random implements against hard surfaces; he asks 'why?' all the time like a five-year-old (he's the reason Naraan got so good at fending off that string of questions). You name it, Kaen does it.
8. What mistake(s) does he continue to make/has not learned from?
Kaen's good at learning from his mistakes. If they get him in trouble, he learns to make them more discreetly next time. Also wife beater~ but that's not a mistake because he doesn't care.
11. What are his intellectual shortcomings?
Idk if this is intellectual or common bloody decency, but he's generally an intellectually smart guy so I'm going to count it anyway: he doesn't see women as people. Nimay is somehow the only exception to this, probably because she's his general and he just sees her as the general... I guess still not quite as a person, but she's the general. This doesn't make her immune to his irritating habits, but it does mean he doesn't try hitting on her. Women as a gender, nup, no respect for them at all.
18. Is he ever a pushover about something? If so, how?
AHAHAHA no. Kaen is the sorest loser you've ever met and he will absolutely not let anything go until he's had the upper hand. Good thing he's the best blade archer in the kingdom or he'd be

Date: 2014-05-02 03:14 pm (UTC)So... Learning from your mistakes means next time you get a girl pregnant... Murder her before your bastard child is born and grows up to be a pain in yo ass!
I'd say not seeing women as people was definitely an intellectual shortcoming XD;
What a dick. Everything makes him MORE a dick, no wonder I like him so much.
