Character 100-ish 058: Rumal
May. 27th, 2014 09:41 pmSometimes I wonder if they really are shuffled because, after a drought of Own riders, I've gotten two almost in a row. Oh well I got the hottest of them X3

When I created him as a naive little... 19-year-old or whatever I was, he was supposed to have the look of having been hot in his youth. 28-year-old 'narti knows better. She knows that Rumal is going to be hot until he's at least 60.
NAME Rumal
WHO IS THIS PERSON BEST SWORDSMAN IN RAYKIN and hence a rider of the current King's Own, Raykin's 15 best warriors
GENDER Male
AGE 37
BRIEF BIO Rumal was born and raised south of the Main Road in the 20th District which is not a nice part of Ni-Yana. He hated living there, and figured the army route was a fast track out of there, so he signed himself up as a fifteen-year-old with the sword as his weapon of choice because that's what everyone does. He was freaking awesome with it, to the point where he was already being touted as Own-material from about second year. This made him pretty lazy with his other weapons, though, and while he got 100% for his sword with his final exams, he failed all the others and had to repeat final year. He nearly gave up then and thinks it's a delicious irony that Raykin almost lost its finest swordie because he couldn't fire a bow for shit. When he did get through he was straight into First Company, married the first hot lady who latched onto him and launched himself into the Own within six months.
Life was freaking AWESOME. He bought a mansion of a villa, hired staff and guards and told them to shove off anyone from south of the Main Road, and basically shunned his old life. He adopted a northern districts accent and tried to deny the rumours that he was a southerner.
This angered his former friends to no end, so they came in the middle of the night and killed his wife. They were caught and promptly executed, but Rumal was left lonely and angry. He'd done everything he could to better himself and leave his old life behind, and those from the south were so bitter they couldn't allow him that happiness.
Rumal still loves to live the high life, and with no lady friend to spend money on he spends it all on himself, employing plenty of staff and eating fine food as often as he can. He revels in the fame and loves the theatre of an Own challenge or the parade as they enter and leave Ni-Yana.
CHARACTER Despite the fact it was his greedy, selfish life that got his wife killed, Rumal still revels in all the physical pleasures his salary can buy him, from fancy meals to fancy sex. He's relaxed enough around the swordies, and especially around admiring fans, but he's got a very short fuse. One mention of his missing finger or his southern origins and he'll react violently.
POINTS OF INTEREST
Rumal beat not one but two Own riders in his Own challenge, which is pretty much unheard of--if you're good enough to beat one they ask you up immediately, but because he was a Southerner, Mithé and the then-general of the Own held off. Realistically he probably could've gotten in straight after graduation. ANYWAY. One of those he beat was Laeron, current sword master, and it was the best bloody Own challenge EVAR. People still talk about it.
Laeron hates him now. Rumal is just perpetually amused.
Rumal has four parallel scars on the back of his right wrist, which come from when the Talons catch you stealing. Specifically, a dagger, a bread roll, a basket of dates, and six silver coins.
Rumal is also missing the pinkie finger on the same hand, which is a major point of contention, since this is typically the progression from the four scars. Rumal lost his on an Own mission, though, specifically the battle that got Naraan killed.
Very clean-cut; all part of his desire to cut himself off from his roots.
Rumal is a mozzie magnet.
His accent these days is pretty much all gone, only raising its head if he's particularly angry or excited.
He still sucks with every weapon but his sword.
