Character 100-ish 066: King Weset

HEY LOOK another Tsaythi. I don't have many of them. Some day I will invent more Tsaythis.
Colouring dark skin after I've just done the pasty pale of Flannel Flower was particularly tricky. He does have a lovely face though.
NAME King Weset of Tsaythi
WHO IS THIS PERSON Former king of Tsayth
GENDER Male
AGE 62 (and still alive because this is how Tsayth works)
BRIEF BIO Weset was the fourth of eight children and grew up a prince of Tsayth. Like Raykinian royalty, the rulership passes to the most capable of the children rather than just the eldest. Typically this means high competition among the siblings, historically to the point where the they often start killing each other.
Weset was not party to any of this. He followed his studies, learning from his parents, played the unassuming role of middle child and, most importantly, made sure he was firm friends with all his siblings. He always made himself out to be the supportive big brother or non-threatening little brother, the one who everyone felt comfortable confiding in. Partly this was a tactical move, learned from his mother who reached her position in the same way, but it's just as much his character.
While his siblings were all sucking up to Mum and Dad and killing each other behind their backs (there were three deaths before Weset was crowned), Weset was quietly making all the right friends. When his siblings were searching for suitable significant others to help them get ahead, Weset was simply looking for a wife. He found her on a sailing trip, at first just good friends, then more developed from there. He convinced her on that trip to come back with him to Ryas and, at twenty as per they practical Tsaythi way, he and his new wife were crowned king and queen on his twentieth birthday, while his parents were still alive and could keep mentoring him.
So for a decade or so, Weset and wife (she does have a name but I can't be bothered looking it up. She'll come up later) just simply ruled. Because of Weset's relationships with his siblings that he'd built up, he had a lot of people around him he could trust, so they made pretty awesome monarchs.
They started making babies at 30, again through Tsaythi practicality, letting them ease into their roles before getting distracted by children. Annnnnd yes. Now they're doing it all again, with their own children, and Weset crowned his own daughter and son-in-law as monarchs about a year ago.
CHARACTER Friendly, open and always willing to listen and offer his advice. He never raises his voice, and consequently few people ever raise their voices to him. Always very regal and tries to earn the respect he's given. Responsible both to his kingdom and to his children.
POINTS OF INTEREST
Weset still goes out on sailing trips every now and then, though not as much as he used to as a younger man.
He always wanted to rule, he just hid it very well. Survival technique.
ALL THE BABIES. I haven't designed any of them. I think one of them has a name. Maybe two.
