Character 100-ish 075: Mehni

I'll be making more of this one up on the spot than I care to admit. I dunno why I've done so little with these two =/
Looking at him the day on he kinda looks scarily like RamsaySnow Bolton. THAT'S DISTURBING.
NAME Mehni
WHO IS THIS PERSON Yamin's and Nimay's father! And hence also Riona's husband.
GENDER Male
AGE deceased, age 33
BRIEF BIO Mehni and his big sister [insert name here] were brought up in middle-class Ni-Yana as the kids of a pair of publicans. They were both brought up with pub ownership in mind for their futures, but they didn't get on too well at all. There was more teasing than normal between brother and sister, more sniping and dangerous. Their parents tried to force them to be civil, hoped they'd outgrow it as they grew up, but they only got worse. In the end Mehni got so fed up that, at 22, he and one of the other kitchen staff at their pub started their own pub. Mehni's parents threw themselves behind him to help him get started, including the not inconsiderable weight of their name (tradition is a Big Thing in pub ownership and Mehni had generations behind him).
As he and his business partner were interviewing for waitstaff when a mysterious young desert woman came into the not-quite-ready pub. They quickly established that the woman had no experience--in work of any kind, not just hospitality work--and sent her on her way, but not before Mehni could tell her he'd rather buy her a drink than have her serving them. Because damn he's smooth. While it didn't work immediately, she did come back a year later to take her up on his offer. Mehni liked her brazenness, and Riona liked his loltastic bad humour. They married a year later (late by Raykinian standards but whatever, Mehni had been having family issues and no time to go wife hunting while that was on) and had the twins a year after that.
For seven years, Mehni's life was pretty awesome. His pub thrived, growing more popular by the year. His wife grew ever more beautiful, his sister mostly left him alone, and his daughters developed personalities and ambitions of their own. Though he could never see either of them taking over the pub, he was still immensely proud of them both. And then Yan came along and the shit, as they say, went down.
CHARACTER Silly daddy. He loves to crack bad jokes, more so since becoming a father and having small children who'll just laugh at anything he says. A man of modest ambitions, he'd be happy to see his fledgling pub become one of the better-known in the district, not necessarily the whole city, and runs it with compassion for his staff and patrons both. He's rarely fazed and knows how to methodically work his way through a problem before finding the best solution.
POINTS OF INTEREST
Mehni rarely sees much of his sister. He actively avoids her if he knows she'll be at a certain place, such as their parents' house. It conveniently means I don't have to add her name-she-doesn't-have to the little box of names for the Character 100-ish.
I didn't mention this with Kal earlier, but yes, 'publican' is a title of rank in Raykin. More so in the smaller towns, where the mayor and the town publican have pretty equal share of the rulership, but they carry a certain weight in Ni-Yana, too.
