I think this is the last of the historical figures. No wait there's still Yan's other daughter to come. Damnit can I just get one milestone of 'yay I've finished all the __!' Fleh.

NAME Raqif
WHO IS THIS PERSON Main character of Desert Sapphire, the first full yrae story I finished back in 2003. Raqif is the third and most-recent person to find an yrae feather.
GENDER Male
AGE Deceased, age 20
BRIEF BIO Born in Ni-Horia, a tiny little town waaaay upstream fairly close to the Kazinian border, about 70 years ago in story terms. Raqif was raised on stories about the yrae--the true stories of Yan and fantasy stories that people had invented since. It was the real one that properly inspired him, though, so when Raqif was 20 he decided to go and find an yrae feather of his own.
So off he went downstream to Ni-Yana, falling in love with a desert woman on the way (forgotten her name but she's not important really) and eventually making it to the big city. Exactly 1000 years after Yan's yrae had appeared, and 500 years after Haela's, a third yrae appeared on the outskirts of Ni-Yana, just for Raqif. It pretty much gave him his feather, just presenting him with the tip of its tail so he could pick up the feather, then it disappeared in a flash of white light. Raqif had a bit of fun with his feather, flying around with it for a day or two, but it wasn't long before Yan found him and killed him to steal the feather for himself. Suckage.
CHARACTER Naïve, determined and stupidly optimistic. Raqif was a dreamer who probably would have stuck with his search for the yrae even if he hadn't found it within days of rocking up in Ni-Yana.
POINTS OF INTEREST
Raqif was originally the twins' grandfather but I've since realised his relationship with the random desert woman wasn't strong enough to go that far and also I want Riona to be 100% desert. It was her desert group that he found, though, so Riona could hear his story and pass it onto the girls.
As the product of a teenage girl's mind, and one who hasn't seen the light of day since his story was written in 2003, Raqif is pretty bland really. I'm sure I could do more with him these days, but I figure his story's told and it doesn't need any more to it, tbh.
