Character 100-ish 110: Prince Shoaib

And that's the Kazinian royal family done :D Minus Assili and Shizaaqa, who are of course in the top eight. Also technically Shizaaqa's brother, but he's in the Commanding Circle, and commander trumps prince so he doesn't count.


This is the first time I've actually drawn Shoaib's face. Poor weedy kid.

NAME Prince Shoaib of Kazin
WHO IS THIS PERSON Clue is in the title! He's the youngest of Shizaaqa's three boys and Assili's older brother.
GENDER Male
AGE 15. Yeah he's one of those who'll look 12 until he's 30. Poor kid.

BRIEF BIO Shoaib's life thus far can just be summed up as 'poor kid', I swear. Honestly it starts before he was born. So, Shizaaqa hated being pregnant. First child: a son. Fine, whatever, 50/50 chance. Second child: another son. Goddamnit, irritated now but still sexy, still got years left. Third child: another goddamn son. Shizaaqa hated him. No, worse, she didn't care about him. Most people in Kazin are hardly even aware she HAS a third son. So even from the very start, Shoaib was in a shadow. Nobody expected him to be anything. Shizaaqa expected him to be less than nothing.
Shoaib started his life just trying to go unnoticed, because being noticed inevitably meant he was about to be berated for something. He was signed up for army training because... there was literally nothing else for him to do. He took up the bow because that was expected of him. He tries at the theory of stuff, because he knows he's expected to become an army leader, but he's been repressed so much in his life that he'll never be able to stand up and give orders. I mean, look at him. Poor kid.

CHARACTER Complete wimp. Shoaib hides as much as he can, keeping out of sight of anyone more high-ranking than him so they can't tell him he's doing something wrong. He's timid and terrible at speaking his mind, even with his brothers and sister, because he's so scared of saying something wrong. He won't exactly jump at the slightest noise, but a warrior he is not.

POINTS OF INTEREST

Shoaib only wears his crown and Family Colours because his family tells him to. He'd much rather blend in so people don't notice him.

Sahid is always picking on his younger brother and making jokes at his expense, but Shoaib is too timid to speak up about it.

While Kanera occasionally takes Sahid's side in the teasing, when he and Shoaib are alone, Kanera does all he can to try and break Shoaib out of his shell. He cares for his little brother, and can see him getting eaten alive once he graduates. While in Kanera's presence, Shoaib does feel stronger and more confident, but none of this sticks with him in the long run.

Shoaib has great respect for his little sister, and if only for her, he wishes he could be the commander she wishes for. When in conversation with her, however, he finds her just as scary as his mother.

Shoaib is quite competent with a weapon in his hands, being as nothing is expected of him in that regard. He prefers the bow and arrow, and is among the top of his class with it. While he's aware this has no bearing on anything, Shoaib takes some pleasure out of training. He knows his place in the army and is happy there. He'll probably suck when he eventually has to shoot at people rather than just targets, but he's resolutely refusing to think about that right now.
