Character 100-ish 113: Gunai
Aug. 29th, 2014 09:16 pmFinally one of the desert group who makes some of their story make SENSE.

Said once say again: grizzly old dudes are the most fun to draw.
NAME Gunai
WHO IS THIS PERSON Elder in the random desert group I created for the purposes of having a desert group
GENDER Male
AGE 45
BRIEF BIO Gunai grew up as a part of an already small desert family. In an effort to grow it, they took in every lost, dehydrated or otherwise dying person they came across. Many never recovered, or never quite recovered fully, and in the end the desert group was weakened for their efforts. Too many people to feed and not enough fit people to feed them.
As the elders became more of a burden than leaders, Gunai took over. He made sure all those fit enough to hunt and forage did so, particularly bringing up his own children to lead and hunt. All his efforts couldn't save his wife, Yagenda, from a disease that ended up taking more than half of what remained of the family. When the family was at its lowest, with only Gunai, his three children and three others on the edge of death left, they met up with Laer's group, just as small but a hundred times stronger. The three others didn't make it, including the last of the family's elders, leaving the group as they are now.
Over the course of the next several years, the new joined group flourished. They've taken on two new members and so far have three of a new generation.
CHARACTER Stubborn, superiority complex, compares everyone to Yagenda. As the elders of his group grew older and weaker, he wasn't above telling them what to do. After Yagenda's death, Gunai got stuck in the past. He compares everyone negatively to her, especially women. He resented being forced to support the ailing elders when this was clearly killing them all.
He won't allow anyone to question him, because he's never wrong. He feels old because of the particular hardship he's been through—he was convinced his family group was going to die out before Laer's came and saved them.
POINTS OF INTEREST
Gunai has always butted heads with Laer after watching her arrive and take complete control over his group. He's a hard bastard and still tries to get one over Laer.
A strong fighter, Gunai leads the family into fights for watering holes, and has taught the second generation how to fend for themselves.
