Last Tsaythi! And this really is the last because there aren't any in the top eight. Thiras made a good case for it but I can't have a top nine that's just weird and wrong. Also she's only there for half a book out of four books so no. Anyway. Last Tsaythi!

He was looking young and kingly until I gave him stubble and now he looks like an ageing pirate. I think there are not many Tsaythis with face fuzz for this reason.

NAME King Si-an of Tsayth
WHO IS THIS PERSON Current king of Tsayth.
GENDER Male
AGE 21

BRIEF BIO Si-an grew up, as the vast majority of Tsaythis who I for some reason haven't invented any of, on a ship. His captain was the cousin of King Weset, which Si-an always felt was a great honour. He knew, also, that the king's children would be crewing with him over the course of his formative years and was honoured and excited to meet all of them. Si-an himself was just one of the general shipmates, just counting himself special enough having met the people in line to the throne.
The one he found most suited to leadership, though, was Tusa. She was a natural leader, whether physically telling people what to do or talking one-on-one with people who had problems or anything like that. He very much admired her, and found himself working particularly hard when she was around. His captain--and Tusa--noticed this and sat down with him one night to talk like practical Tsaythis about his maybe marrying her and becoming prince and, possibly, king. Tusa also told him she was in fact gay and would never have romantic or sexual feelings towards him, and told him of her plans to warm Tsayth to Llayad's idea of adoption. Si-an, again being the practical Tsaythi, thought long and hard about this proposition until, a month or so before they were due to make port back in Ryas, he decided he could handle the pressure and announced he'd become prince of Tsayth.
This all happened less than a year ago in story time, so he's still new to the job and still finding his feet, but Si-an looks forward to whatever challenges are put to him and knows he can be the leader Tsayth needs.

CHARACTER Supportive, trustworthy, a good leader and follower when required. Si-an is excited by what kingship will bring him and hasn't yet become jaded by the things he can't fix.

POINTS OF INTEREST
  • The hypen in Si-an's name is new. I realised that, since Sian is already a real name pronounced 'Shaan', I needed to distinguish the two syllables there. Tsaythi is a very staccato language so there's a definite gap between the two.
  • Si-an and Tusa are very firm friends. By Tsaythi tradition they don't have to start making babies until they've been monarchs for a decade and are well entrenched in their roles, so for the time being he's not thinking about that side of things.
