Character 100-ish 136: Lady Narine
Sep. 21st, 2014 06:01 pmOne I've been simultaneously looking forward to and dreading because FRECKLES.

She was actually looking really sweet and lovely until I makeuped the shit out of her. TONE BACK, HONEY. That said, I really do like how her freckles came out this time around.
NAME Lady Narine
WHO IS THIS PERSON Current healer at the palace healing house in Ni-Yana
GENDER Female
AGE 26
BRIEF BIO Narine was born and bred in Ni-Aneka, the next city upstream of Ni-Yana and the sort of fashion centre of the kingdom. Her mother is a fashion designer for the city's rich, with many of her designs making it back to Ni-Yana's rich, too. Narine has grown up with the desire to look good in everything. She moved downstream to Ni-Yana when she was 17 for just that purpose, so she could land the most fashionable husband, one of the army guys.
She started healer training just as a means of supporting herself while she was in Ni-Yana, then applied to work at the palace healing house after a year or so because that was closer to where the army guys are. It was just a thing of convenience, really, but from day one she made instant best friends with Fali.
She spent a good portion of her time off eyeing off the trainees, asking the weapons masters if they had any Own material in their ranks, meeting various of them down at the pub, until finally she landed herself a man--dropdead gorgeous swordie likely to at worst make Second Company, according to Laeron.
She married when they were both twenty, and has since fallen properly in love with him (she thinks. We hope.)
Narine earned her gold healer's band at 22, specialising in poisonous plants, and with so much of the awesome parts of her life now in Ni-Yana she can't see herself moving back to Ni-Aneka for a long time yet, though she does love to go back to see her mother whenever she can get the time off.
CHARACTER Incredibly vain. Narine's upbringing as the daughter of a fashion designer in Raykin's most fashionable city has given her an unhealthy love of fashion. She spends as much time getting ready every morning for work as a normal person would spend on a first date, and is baffled by those of the 'brush and go' mentality.
Narine may come off as a bit of a ditz, but she does work incredibly hard and is dedicated to whatever she sets her mind to. What started off as a job of convenience--an easy way of seeing all the army trainees was to work at the palace--turned into one she loved, and where she met her best friend in Fali. She wouldn't dream of leaving now, though she does love to go back home as often as she can.
POINTS OF INTEREST
Narine loves nothing more than to wander through the markets looking for the next shiny addition to her wardrobe.
Narine has been known to wear jewellery to work, 'forget' her green healer's dot and gold arm band, and just generally push the boundaries on what's acceptable in the healing house, all in order to look her very best.
Narine hates her freckles, so she loads up on makeup to try and distract from them. Some day, we're sure, Fali will convince her that her freckles are gorgeous on their own and she'll look much better if she tones down on the caking.
Narine braids her hair in interesting patterns that she changes weekly. When she's bored she sometimes unbraids and rebraids one of them.
