Character 100-ish 137: Lady Kathana
Sep. 21st, 2014 09:18 pmSure did get sunburnt in September!

I gave her age spots :D Because I've been forgetting to on too many of them.
NAME Lady Kathana
WHO IS THIS PERSON One of the current healers at the palace healing house.
GENDER Female
AGE 46
BRIEF BIO Kathana grew up south of the Main Road in Ni-Yana, where her parents brought her up to believe that the only way she would make anything of herself and get out of the lower class was to marry someone successful, so she could support her parents in their old age. For this reason they started her working in the palace kitchens as a scullery girl from age ten where she could, on her breaks and brief time off, watch the training army guys and pick one to marry.
By the time she was fifteen, Kathana knew what to look for in a swordie trainee, and handpicked a guy called Bak as being the best of the bunch. Two years later, when Bak turned 20, she married him and, sure enough, he graduated into First Company a few years later.
However, Bak was far more married to his job than he was to Kathana, and despite all her affections nothing ever changed. He was promoted to Third General of First Company when Kathana was 23, but this achievement only made him more determined to go further, and less interested in Kathana.
By the time she was 25, Kathana had had enough, and began training as a healer so she could make her own way instead. Her parents were still adamant that she should stay with Bak--after all, he provided her with all she wanted, right?--but for the first time Kathana defied them and, at 30, she completed her training and moved out on her own. Bak never saw it coming, self-absorbed prick that he was, and while he tried (not very hard) for a month or two to win her back, Kathana never considered it an option.
She applied to the palace healing house at 36, and has been there for a decade now, still living on her own but no longer liable to make the same mistake again.
CHARACTER Regretful of how her life turned out, and tends to rattle off her opinions to the younger generation, who she sees wasting their lives the same way she did, but no longer really expects to be listened to. Kathana is a stern woman who, having never had children of her own, mothers the other girls in the healing house a little more than they appreciate. She loves it when they come to her for advice.
POINTS OF INTEREST
Kathana hums to herself a lot, out of tune and very old fashioned songs.
From her time in the palace kitchens, Kathana learned to be an exceptional cook.
The girls in the healing house like to joke that Kathana has had her hair in that tight bun so long it's permanently pulled her eyebrows pointy like that. Truth is she probably has some desert blood in her back a generation or two.
