Average height, overweight, short, thinning, dark grey hair and beard, doesn't
tend to cover himself in jewellery, just sticks with rich fabrics
Personality
traits
Quietly confident, patient, responsible, not aggressive (both as person and
ruler), learns from his mistakes, excellent coping skills, but can be a bit
irrational
about some things.

Scratching his beard or fiddling with his fingers when he's thinking
or nervous, his left eye twitches when he's angry
2. Physical Description

Beard, overweightness

Cut fairly short by Raykinian standards, thinning, dark grey. Well-trimmed
beard
Height/build/weight
177cm, 140kg, overweight, bulky

Just the crown: Gold band with numerous rubies/garnets/red jewels in it, including
a large ruby at the front, crowned by three smaller garnets. Wears it at official
functions.
Casual wear
Mostly blue with the royal yrae tail all over the smaller flap. Looks like
this.
Has a very interesting, not-mirrored back because I am NOT a lazy fiend ¬¬;
Battle attire (if applicable)
Not applicable. He was in the army for a brief time, when he was part of the
knife archer division in purple shirts.
Best/worst qualities
Best: Hasn't got a lot of that left. He's getting on a bit.
Worst: The fat.
3. Speech and Language
Speech
Very well-spoken, can easily hold himself against a Llayan if the need arrises.
Reading/writing
Can obviously do both very well
Languages
Fluent Llayan, enough Kazinian and Tsaythi to make conversation, speaks with
a bit of an accent, but still easily understood.
4. Battle
Worst enemy
Empress Shizaaqa, though more because she chose to be enemies with him than
vice versa. He wouldn't choose to go to war with her though.
Preferred
weapon
Throwing knives, though he hasn't even picked one up in 25 years, so
he's
probably not very good with them anymore.
Fighting style
Not applicable
5. Lifestyle
Typical day
Get up at dawn, breakfast, work, possibly deal with a foreign dignitary or
two, makes some attempt at teaching Nol how to rule, lunch, more work, dealing
with
more local people/issues, dinner, more work, goes to bed late at night.
Occupation
King. Also trained as a blade archer in the army, but he was only there for
three years, two and a half decades ago.
Favourite food/drink
Salmon and palace-brewed beer, which is served to everyone in the palace who
wants it, but not outside the walls.
Early bird or night owl?
His line of work demands that he be up with the sun, but down well after it.
He dreams of being able to sleep in.
Hobbies
Doesn't really have time for any.
6. Personality
Greatest flaw
He's a bit boring. Makes bad jokes that only he gets, and doesn't
get the jokes of others.
Strongest point
Coping skills
Greatest ambition/goal
Present Raykin with a responsible, capable heir. So much for that idea.
Self-confidence
He's modest, but quietly confident.
Give orders or take them
Give them, but he presents orders more as requests, until whoever he's
requesting decides to disobey him.
Introvert or extrovert
Half-half.
Coping skills
Excellent, particularly when dealing with extra responsibility (noble ‡ crown
prince ‡ king ‡ soul king and father). Incredibly patient with
Nolryn. Has the tendency to get slightly paranoid and irrational when concerning
people
attempting to take his own life—he has six assassins, Nimay and his own
son being two of them.
7. What to say
"I love you"
He'd continue the conversation or whatever as
if they had never said anything.
"I hate you"
He'd definitely be taken aback, probably speechless.
"Someone you love is dead"
He'd swear a few times, then push on with his job; Raykin doesn't
care about the life of one person, so they wouldn't allow for him to slack
off just because of one person. He probably wouldn't sleep for a day
or two though.
"Someone you hate is dead"
There's really nobody Mithé hates. There are of course people he
doesn't like or doesn't get on well with, but he doesn't hate
anyone. If any of the people he disliked died, he'd probably forget he
ever disliked them.
"You will die"
This has essentially already happened. He now has six assassins working for
him.
"Help me"
That would depend entirely on what they were asking for, what he was doing
at the time and whether it would prove to be a downfall to Raykin.
8. Dealing with it
Anger
Take a deep breath and try his best not to take his anger out on others.
If a particular person is the cause of his anger, he'll talk to them
with obviously strained patience. Sometimes this strained patience can come
across
slightly
whiney
Sadness
He'll put it aside and tell himself that in the grand scheme of things,
it doesn't matter as much as the wellbeing of Raykin's people.
Loss
Same again. If it's loss of money from the kingdom's treasury,
then he'll rack his brains for the best way to make up the deficit. Raising
taxes is a last resort.
Stress
Again, take a deep breath and work his way through it.
Conflict
He'll do everything in his power to avoid it, whether international or
domestic.
Social events
He definitely gets sick of so many people trying to suck up to him or ask
for more money for their respective industries. However, he sees the necessity
of such events, and treats them as a way of finding out what most concerns
the people
at that point in time.
9. What would be most likely to make him…
Happy
Nol making a good decision, one of his people telling him something's
going well.
Sad
It takes a lot to make Mithé sad. Generally he skips sad and moves straight
onto anger.
Scared
Someone brandishing a weapon at him.
Angry
People begging for money off of him, people talking down to him.
Surprised
Nol making a good decision.
Embarrassed
Nol talking down to foreign dignitaries, but he won't show he's
embarrassed.
10. Relationships (how he see others and how others see him)
King Yan
As a historical figure, Mithé is quite indifferent to Yan's rule,
since it happened so long ago. However, once he reappears, his opinions change
somewhat. He still can't understand how Yan is ‘alive', and
keeps trying to convince himself that the person before him is someone who found
the fallen king's ring.
Yan sees him as his greatest rival, but knows he hardly poses any threat.
Yamin
Mithé thinks of Yamin as his daughter, and pities her for having lost
her own. In his effort to give her a father figure, he hasn't thought
that maybe Yamin doesn't want her own father to be replaced. She wishes
for their relationship to remain professional.
Nimay
Again, he treats her as his daughter, and since Nimay remembers nothing of
her father, she easily accepts Mithé when he assumes the role.
Mithé sees both twins as a couple of girls who have had bad things happen
to them, rather than staring at the yrae stone, their colour or commenting
on their lack of speech, as most other people do. As a result, he's earned
great respect from both of them.
Prince Nolryn
He definitely worries about him a lot, and whether there's any hope that
he'll be capable of running the kingdom once Mithé's passed
on. The king tries his best to teach Nol the runnings of Raykin, but he can
see that most of it just goes straight over his head. He loves his son, but
he definitely
worries about his capabilities.
Community
The palace staff all think he does a pretty good job as king, but not so
good as a father. They can see he's trying, but whatever he's
doing doesn't
work. Privately, many people think he could be more ambitious, but know that
what he's doing basically works.
Other Raykinians
Since Mithé makes a pretty average king, people don't tend to
take much notice of him. Mithé doesn't really mingle with the
general public all that much, so they just think of him as basically another
palace
official.
Llayans, Tsaythis and Kazinians
They pay even less attention to him than the Raykinians. Llayan royalty loves
him though, simply because he doesn't like the idea of declaring war
on other kingdoms, and because the two families are trying to get Nol and Lynnlita
married.
Tsayth tends to ignore him—he doesn't get in their way, so there's
really no reason to bother with him. Kazin, likewise, couldn't really
give much of a stuff about him. Shizaaqa knows he won't attack her,
and doesn't
really feel like attacking back, since she's got too many internal
wars of her own to deal with, not to mention her army's dislike of
her. She hates him as she would any other Raykinian ruler, but only because
he rules Raykin.
In return, Mithé hates her because she hates him irrationally. She's
more of an annoyance than anything else.
Desert people
Initially he didn't really think of them, but having learnt that the
twins' mother
was a desert person, he's been learning more about them, mostly through
Yamin's stories. The desert people bare a grudge against him for not
trying to change the minds of the river folk, as they do every Raykinian
monarch.
11. Beliefs/Superstitions
Yrae
He's always suspected that the yrae actually existed, but to have the
proof manifest in front of him is something entirely different.
Is the glass
half-empty or half-full?
Half-full, unless it's really, really
empty. That doesn't happen
often though, not even when considering Nol.
Superstitions
He doesn't like the first day of a new moon.
Lucky charms
A small shell he'd found on the docks when he was younger, from a Tsaythi
boat. He had it in his pocket when he was accepted into the army, and had
lost it the day Alurié died, so he's kept it on him every day
since.
Lin and Aeia—what part do they play? Do they exist?
They definitely exist, and play a large part in Raykinian life. How could
anyone ignore the desert and water, when they so affected every aspect of
daily life?
12. Facts of Life
Birth
Very, very scary. After his wife died giving birth, he's just about paranoid
of it.
Death
Also scary, if for nothing but the thought that Nol would be ruling when
Mithé dies
himself. He tries to prolong his life as much as possible.
Life
The purpose of life is to make the lives of others happier, and he takes
this philosophy with him to work.
Love
It's a beautiful thing, but painful for him since the woman he loved
died. He knows that because of his position, he can't really take another
wife, not unless she's a supremely fine ruler.
Sex
Definitely not something to be talked about.
Killing
He'll avoid going to war and killing as much as he can, but he has no
qualms about sending someone to kill if it means directly preserving his
own life.
Magic
He's known the twins long enough to be used to it and relatively unfazed
when he sees it in use.
13. Magical Attributes
Not Applicable
14. Education
Schooling
He was taught by various teachers in his house how to read, write, do simple
mathematics, and the history of Raykin. Later trained to become part of the
army.
Survival skills
Better than most due to army training, but he's probably forgotten most
of it in the decades since he completed training.
15. Family
Parents' names and occupations
Ikaela: Mother, home duties
Irman: Father, Minister for Transport
Relationship with parents
Fairly good, especially when they learned he'd be marrying the princess.
Siblings' names
and occupations
None
Relationship with siblings
Not Applicable
Other family members
Alurié: Late wife. She was a bit of a bitch to everyone except Mithé,
and during her brief stint as queen, she didn't do a very good job
at it. All the same, Mithé misses her, if bittersweetly. She died
giving birth to Nol.
Nolryn: Son. See Relationships for more info.
16. Before Silent Harmony
Childhood
Typically noble—taught by the three or four teachers of the household,
largely relaxing life. Decided to train for the army when he was 15, when
Alurié started
taking notice of him.
How current position was reached
Alurié noticed him when he was training for the army and made a point
of getting to know him. He eventually got the guts to propose to her for
his hrai-dani, she accepted and they married, hence he became prince. When
Alurié's
parents died a few years later, he was king, and then when Alurié died
he became sole ruler of Raykin. Eventful life.
Best memory
His hrai-dani. It made him feel special, more so than his wedding, which
was of course mostly about Alurié.
Worst memory
Nol's birth, because it was also Alurié's death.
Turning
points in life

but she only approached him when he was 17.

Age 22: Graduated from army training
Age 23: King died
