Like the title says =D
For anyone who hasn't quite caught on yet, red are the swordies, blue are archers, purple for blade archers and orange for pikemen. The swordies are allowed to design their own, but the rest of them have theirs designed partly by the ruler at the time they're initiated, and partly by the blacksmith who's making it so that the sword is actually usable. They get to keep using their swords when they leave the Own.
Nimay first up, which is the sword you'll all be familiar with so there's not a lot to say. It's an yrae! With sapphires! The hilt and guard are silver plated, steel underneath, since solid silver would be far too heavy to wield, and the blade's steel. Everyone's is, surprisingly enough.
Melraan, the most typical Own rider and one of the most ostentatious and blingy of them all, has a scorpion. Because it's cool, damnit! Hilt and guard are gold-plated brass, and the jewels are sparkly red garnets. Look, he's even got two on his scabbard. Blingy bastard X3
Haenel's the newest rider, only been on one mission, and he has a redback spider, ooh. The guard and pommel are made from onyx unless someone can name me a black metal, and his jewels are rubies. Also, yes, I realise that a redback's legs don't tend to bunch together like that, but it's far too awkward to make them stick out separately and still have a functioning sword, so there you have it.
Emon, the pessimist, has a dragonfly. Since that in itself isn't particularly threatening, I figure it's some kind of not-yet-invented poisonous, Raykinian dragonfly. Gold-plated brass again, and emeralds~
Kurae, the chef, is from the coastal city of Ni-Badra, so he's got a swordfish for a sword. No jewel at the tip for him because it's too skinny. Silver-plated steel and turquoise. Shiny~
Rumal, veteran of the Own and the best swordie, has one of my favourites X) He has Lin's and Aeia's flowers on it, ooh. The pommel is studded with lotsa very small turquoises and sapphires to resemble the flower of life, and yes, he has to keep replacing them when they fall out all the time, but hey, he's been in the Own for long enough that the money doesn't matter squat. The hilt, made from copper and gold-plated brass, is in the shape of the flower of death. He has a bloody cool sword and I wants it.
Ulkar, my lovely little country bumpkin, has a wedge-tailed eagle, because they're a lot more common away from the large cities. He insists that 'may stole his sword design and just flipped it X3 Gold plated brass again, and garnets.
Nol with another sword you should recognise. The thrai~ that he hates because he can't stand snakes. Mithé insists it's in reference to the Golden Thrai, Nol's favourite watering hole, but Nol reckons it's more of a sick joke X3; Gold-plated brass again, and garnets again.
Gylepi, part desert person, has a coconut palm. Just cos. Gold-plated brass for the leaves, and orangey-brown topaz for the coconuts.
Garuk, best of the archers but can't stand publicity, has a shiny silver-plated bat. Which looks like a hamster if you look at it wrong. Sorry Garuk. It's probably a vampire bat, I dunno. 'sgot peridot stones tho =D
Murali, ambitious wannabe General, has a geya, which is a bird of prey that's often confused for an yrae. Silver-plated steel with onyx eyes. Grah.
Kaen, complete and utter bastard, gets a random animal skull with horns, and a bone for the hilt. I think it's a bull. Anyway, steel plated with white gold for the hilt and guard, and topaz eyes.
Yoryl, who is teh gay, has cactus that I made up and forgot to colour to go with this, but I'll get onto that. Bear in mind that nobody knew Yoryl was gay until he actually got into the Own. Then the rumours started and he figured bugger it, he's got it so why not flaunt it? But yeah, Mithé was completely unaware that he was gay when designing the sword. The hilt is the cactusy bit, with all the thorns and water inside (the actual plant obviously, not the sword hilt), the guard is made from the yellow (gold-plated bronze) leaves and orange (copper) flower, and the pink diamonds at the top are the berries. The seeds of the berries are black and potentially fatal--if eaten, they have to be swallowed really quickly, otherwise you're buggered.
Inel has a blue-tongued lizard, also known as a stumpy-tailed or shingleback lizard. They're not at all vicious, but damnit I wanted to make a blue-tongue sword, so there >O Gold-plated brass again, and obviously bright blue sapphires for his bright blue tongue.
Anganur, the blokiest bloke that ever bloked, has a spinifex tiger, which is that tiger I designed a coupla weeks ago and can't be screwed linking. Hilt and pommel in copper, with gold stripes on the tiger and bright yellow tourmaline for the eyes and the gems curled in its tail.
And that's the lot of them =D Tomorrow I'll see if I can get the regulation army swords up =3
