Title~ Rennaa

Disclaimer~ Still mine, tho I don't really want to claim this one >>;
Notes~ Genesis 079. Just as a note: if you ask a Tsaythi their name and they don't tell you their parents' names as well, then they're an illegitimate child, which is ve~ry much a nono in Tsayth. Leads to the illegit child nicking off to live in Llayad or Raykin, usually...

“Happy Solstice, Lymri.”

The barkeeper grinned back as Kaen took his place on a stool by the bar. “And to you, Kaen. We’ve got a new girl up here tonight,” she told him, setting his usual brew on the bar bench. It was hardly a Liquid Sunset, but then, Kaen wasn’t a regular here for the brew. “She’s been practicing since Spring on her routine.”

“What’s her name?”

Lymri laughed and shook her head. “You’ll have to ask her that, quael. If you must call her something, she’s picked up the name Rennaa.” She grinned coyly over her shoulder as she turned around to tap another glass. “You’ll see why when she comes out.”

Kaen half-raised his eyebrows as he lifted his glass to his lips. The rennaa was the bird that represented the Summer Solstice—a tiny, flitty yellow thing with a white spot on its head that always appeared around the beginning of Summer. “You’ve got me intrigued now,” the blade archer murmured, “When’s she due out?”

The barkeeper answered by motioning towards the canvas door the girls always entered through, and sure enough, the sheet of dark red material fluttered aside to allow Rennaa passage.

Of all the girls Kaen had seen appear through that doorway, he’d never had his breath taken away so much as by this one. Bright yellow frills draped from her arms like wings, but aside from that those flowing sleeves, there was very little left to the imagination. Her skin was the dark golden-brown of the Tsaythis, and it glistened with the sweet-smelling oils that Lymri’s girls coated themselves in before every show. Her white hair was tied tight into a pony tail high on her head, and danced smoothly with the rest of her sinuous body.

And what a body it was. So smooth and voluptuous, so deliciously tempting. She knew her moves, did Rennaa, and knew exactly how to play with every man in the bar. She swung her hips slowly, seductively, bringing her body close enough so that Kaen could smell her, but not close enough to touch. Oh yes, Kaen would have her tonight.

When Rennaa’s tantalising dance had finished, she sidled over to the bar and slid onto Kaen’s lap—clearly she had been told just who was worth coming to tonight.

“What’s your real name, Rennaa?” Kaen asked her, sliding one hand up her glistening thigh.

“Tsi,” the girl answered, the single syllable sending goosebumps over Kaen’s skin.

“Just Tsi?”

“Just Tsi.”

“What brings a beautiful young Tsaythi like you to Ni-Yana?”

Tsi shook her head. “I’m not a Tsaythi anymore,” she told him, in fluent, unaccented Raykinian, but her voice had the same richness as the Tsaythis. “But for you? I can be whoever you wish.”

“For a price, of course.”

The Tsaythi-come-Raykinian nodded slowly, a coy grin spreading over her lips. “For you, ten gold pieces.” She rested one smooth finger on Kaen’s mouth, “For one night.”

Kaen’s hand gripped her thigh possessively. “Sold.”
