Title~ Price of Beer

Disclaimer~ Mine again
Notes~ 15 minute fic, word 70. I have no working space, B or N keys at home, so am doing this one at uni, hence it prolly won't total 15 minutes. Plus it's a difficult word and I've got no idea what to write for it Oo We'll see how we go.

"Why," Nolryn demanded to no-one in particular, "do people insist on overcharging me for drinks?"
Melraan shrugged and took a swig of his own beer.
"I mean, do they think I wouldn't notice that they're trying to charge me three times the regular price for something? Do they think I won't notice the difference between a Liquid Sunset and something weaker than river water?"
The swordsman shrugged again, then rested his drink on the bar and drew his dagger. "They've got some weird idea in their heads that you're compassionate." He turned his head and focussed the dagger carefully on the target nailed to the far wall.
The prince snorted. "Maybe I should tell them it's essentially their coin that's being spent," he said cynically, "If they charge me too much and I paid, I'd have to raise taxes."
Melraan loosed his dagger at the target, frowning critically at the attempt.
"Shot," Nolryn congratulated him, more than a hint of sarcasm in his voice. He pushed himself away from the bar and drew his own dagger.
"Quiet you. Anyway, I wouldn't tell them that. They'll riot on you."
The prince cringed as he levelled his blade at the target. It was not so much the prospect of a riot that made him think twice, rather how Majesty would obviously assume it was his fault. "I'll stand at the top of the palace walls and yell out at them, 'stop overcharging me!'" He flung the dagger at the target, then turned to his friend. "What do you reckon?"
"What? The shot or standing at the top of the palace walls?"
"The shot."
Melraan turned to stare at the dagger hilt sticking out of the bullseye. "Venom, wasn't it?"
