9 Wives in 9 Nights ~ Lolana
Sep. 12th, 2006 09:29 pmUlkar's wife Lolana, based on the song Duffy's Song by the Whitlams.

Name~ Lolana
Age~ 33
Currently Appearing In~ Nothing as yet, but her minifics will be here when I write them.
Orientation~ Straight
Origin~ Ni-Yuyaa, small city at the top of the Ra-Lin's delta
Significant Other(s)~ Husband: Ulkar, swordie of the King's Own
Background~ Lolana's parents were both merchants in Ni-Yuyaa, but because her father was half desert and her mother fully desert, they weren't particularly successful. Made enough to get by, but just barely. Riverfolk and desert people don't get on, yasee.
When Lolana turned 15 she decided "bugger this" and nicked off up to Ni-Yana to put her name forward for army training, specifically with the sword. Her thinking was that whatever she did, she'd be given a hard time for being three quarters desert, but at least in the army she could use it to her advantage, and get paid the same as anyone else with her skill. Same as 'may, she was just as tall as the boys, and just as strong, because of her heritage, and unlike Gylepi she had been taught desert magic too, so she could use that on the desert survival part of training. She was a bit of a hell-raiser in training, always mouthing off at anyone, students and masters alike, who she thought mocked her for being either mostly desert or a girl. The girl thing didn't come up often though--she was taller than half of them and a better swordie than just about all of them.
This was of course how she met Ulkar. They started off as training partners, then friends, and boom, now they're married. Lolana has always been the better of the two, but only by a smidge. They worked off each other really well, were able to help each other out and all the rest of it. She was offered a place in the Own a few months after Gylepi got in, but after seeing how much he'd copped it for being half-desert in the Own, she turned the opportunity down.
Since then, Gylepi's obviously been getting teased less, but she still won't take the Own challenge--she's got two twin sons, who will remain unnamed until I can be bothered giving them names, and who would be lonely and worried when both Mummy and Daddy go away on a mission. The idea niggles her from time to time, but she's got a family to think about now.
Employment~ First Company swordswoman.
Appearance~ A good foot taller than Ulkar, which is most amusing, I think you'll agree X3 Strong shoulders and arms from training, darker skin and eyes of the desert people, insane hair that she strugles to control with a headband with hooks, or tied back in a high ponytail when training.
Distinguishing Characteristics~ Her hair's a mess, through no fault of her own XD; Oh~ if only Raykin could invent defrizz XD;;
Quirks~ The fact that she's good enough fo the Own but won't take the challenge. That's pretty quirky.
Sin-of-Anger~ She used to blow her top about remarks about desert people, but since she's gotten to know Ulkar, she's become a lot calmer and is able to bite her tongue and ignore them.
Sin-of-Envy~ She envies the living hell out of 'may.
Sin-of-Pride~ Yep, that's an Own trait right there. Always boasting that she could get in if she wanted to, showing off in the barracks. She's definitely Own material XD
Sin-of-Gluttony~ Probably eats more than she should, just because she had to live on so little when she was a kid in Ni-Yuyaa, so now she's making up for it. She works it all off in training tho.
Sin-of-Lust~ Only for Ulkar X3
Sin-of-Avarice~ She's given up her spot in the Own for her family, so the kiddes can at least have one parent at home, and so Ulkar can keep going.
Sin-of-Sloth~ She trains hard and does everything for the kiddies, but all other housework and cooking is left to the servants.
Virtues~ Dunno if you've picked this up yet, but she's a very strong woman. Defiant to the last, refuses to go with the norm. She's very supportive of Ulkar too, and trusts him enough that he won't get killed on missions. He's proven her right so far =3
