Mali, Kaen's wife, not so much based on the song, but it certainly fits her anyway: Who makes you feel by Dido. Also, yes, I realise (now ><) how similar her name is to Fali's. Sorry =D;; I do that far too often ^^;;;

Background~ Mali was born south of the Main Road, and she hated it there so much that she ran away when she was ten, crossed the Main Road and got taken in by a lovely lady. She fed her, cleaned her up and let her help out decorating around the bar. What poor little mini!Mali didn't realise tho, was that this lovely lady's bar, decorated with silks and lots of sparkly gold things, was~ a brothel.
She began having her suspicions pretty early on in the piece, which were confirmed when she started talking to the other girls there. She started doing the 'real' work there soon after she turned fifteen, and almost instantly gained a regular customer--Kaen.
Kaen has always been able to turn on the charm, and he did it oh so well with Mali--he even paid for a couple of nights when they just sat and talked, no sex involved. He took her out to dinner, watched the sunset, and made her feel loved. Then when she turned sixteen, he proposed, on the condition that she quit working at the brothel and come live with him instead. The phrase 'too good to be true' seems to fit quite well here.
He kept up the lovey dovey for a while, so Mali went on thinking she was the luckiest girl in the world, but over the years the marriage has... degenerated somewhat. She's rarely if ever allowed to leave the house, and then only if she's firmly attached to Kaen's arm. He says it's for her protection. She's not allowed any visitors for the same reason.
Kaen himself has started treating her the same way as any other man at the brothel, only ever coming to her for sex. However, he can still turn on the charm with the best of them, and in such a way that makes Mali think they've still got what they started with, which is, in a way, ironically true. She's allowed to spend as much of his money as she likes on whatever she wants, so long as he knows about it.
Lately, in the last three or four years, he's also started hitting her if she does something wrong, and silly girl she is, Mali thinks she deserves it. There's still plenty of (completely faked) love and romance from Kaen's end, and she thinks it's worth putting up with the occasional whack on the ear for what she sees as a life of bliss.
Employment~ None. Formerly worked at a brothel.
Appearance~ Mali is absolutely gorgeous. Kaen wouldn't have taken her otherwise. She's slightly shorter than average with very sensuous curves and beautiful long, straight hair, usually tied at the end with a ribbon, and a long fringe that gets in her eyes, but that she can coyly hide behind. Beautiful big eyes and long eyelashes.
Distinguishing Characteristics~ Mali is a distinguishing characteristic. Failing that... bruises ._.
Quirks~ She doesn't actually make any effort to leave Kaen. Whether this is through fear of what he'll do if she tries, or because she still actually loves him, we dunno. Possibly a combination of the two.
Sin-of-Anger~ She's far too meek for that. Any time she would show anger, Kaen would shut it down pretty damn quickly.
Sin-of-Envy~ Sort of. Any time she catches herself envying other women who have a husband who's more gentle with them, she reminds herself of where she came from, and how she's risen to be the wife of an Own rider. No other woman is allowed to spend as much of her husband's money as she can, when he chooses to be, nobody can possibly be as tender as Kaen can.
Sin-of-Pride~ Very, very much so. On the odd occasions that she's let out of the house, she carries herself exceptionally well, especially when Kaen's by her side. She loves dressing up and looking beautiful, and has a little game every time she goes out of counting how many heads she can turn in one outing.
Sin-of-Gluttony~ If it catches her fancy, it's as good as sold. Food-wise, no. She likes to keep her figure.
Sin-of-Lust~ Oh yes, she's still very much got the lusties for Kaen, despite it all. Again, through fear or love, we dunno.
Sin-of-Avarice~ Tricky one. She doesn't actually own anything, since her dresses and everything were bought with Kaen's money... but there are an aweful lot of them.
Sin-of-Sloth~ Another tricky one =/ Cooking, cleaning and all that are left to the maids... but being the wife of that guy is a full time job .-.
Virtues~ I think she needs a real man to bring out any real virtues... She's very loving, sweet, forgiving, accepting... but that could very well all be a product of fear.
