Newbie, Haenel's introductoy minific
The uptight newbie. Haenel came out a bit crap. Hands suffering from bunch-of-bananas disease, one ankle to fat the other too skinny... But I don't like Haenel so that's okay =3 That face there? FACADE~ oh boy is it a facade. He's a miserable little man, but he never talks to anyone about it, not even Inel who feels like it's his duty to listen and help people out.
His wife died three years ago, and while he makes out that he's over it and he's fine and dandy now, it still eats him up inside. But he won't TALK about it. Damn male. He just keeps it bottled up inside and holds up this face of happy bouncy Haenel, cracking jokes and whatever else. He's got an incredible sense of humour, it's just a pity he's never genuinely happy.
Haenel~ has taken to the bottle, big time. The vast majority of Raykinians drink booze because it tastes good. They don't drink to get drunk, though it invariably ends up happening, and they're smart enough to know that drowning your sorrows in it generally makes things worse. Haenel knows this too, but he does it anyway. Big booze-up, then the wall comes down and his real thoughts and feelings come out.
The guys, however, think it's the other way around. That the happy, joking face he puts on is what's real, but too much booze drags up all the old and bad memories and turns him into someone he isn't. Oh~ if only they knew~~ .-. 'may does, of course, but the problem with not talking is that she can be easily ignored when Haenel chooses to. Cos he's~ an idiot =D
Before he started army training, Haenel's father forced him to be a merchant, which highly-strung little Haenel did NOT want to do. He followed along though, until their caravan was attcked in Kazin. His dad was killed, but Haenel used the sword that his father didn't know he had and defended himself, so he was able to get out and back to Ni-Yana, straight away signing up for army training. His years as a merchant, spending half his life before age 18 in Kazin, meant he leared to speak Kazinian, so he's now fluent in the language, and can even say the S and Z sounds properly XD
He's the newest member of the Own, having only been on the one mission. He thinks of himself as General Rau's replacement, so that puts a huuuuuuge weight on his shoulders that shouldn't really be there. It's made him something of a workaholic, and he's almost always training in the barracks. It's also a good diversion from icky thoughts. All this pressure that he's put on himself has made him very highly strung, definitely happiest with a blade in his hands and even more so when he's doing battle in Kazin.
Oh yeah, and he was 26 when he joined up, not 27 like the picci says >> That's a typo <<
So there he is, the last of the swordies, thank GAWD. I'm sick of colouring red shirts now. Bring on the stickmen!
