What is Mithé's attitude towards...?
Apr. 20th, 2007 01:39 pmI'm so going to be making most of this stuff up on the spot. And I'm going to be so sick of his e-acute by the end XD;
What is Mithé's attitude towards...?
1. life in general?
Life is unfair, but he doesn't let that get him down. He's a realist, and he does what he can to make things as fair as possible for everyone, but he knows that even though he's the king, he can only do so much. He just tries to keep everything running as smoothly as possible.
2. death?
This~ is a tricky one. Obviously Alurié's death is a touchy subject, though less so now than it was two decades ago. He worries about those close to him, like Nol when he sends him off on an Own mission, but he trusts him enough not to put himself in any stupid situations. When it comes to his enemies... yeah~ this is where it gets tricky. He has Nimay as his personal assassin, and it's part of his job to sentence murderers to death (standard Raykinian law, not something Mithé introduced), but he has no intentions of going to war. I think that as long as it means little to no danger to his own people, he'll do what needs to be done to protect them.
3. friends?
Mithé has people he trusts around him, but I don't think any of them are close enough to call friends. They're all there purely as part of business and politics. That said, if there's time at the end of the day, he'll have a beer with them in the palace bar X3
4. family?
As I said with Nol's thingie, Raykinian royals have something of a warped idea of family. However, since Mithé hasn't been royalty his whole life, he tends to look at Nol more as his son than as crown prince. If Nol were to die, Mithé would definitely be thinking more about the loss of a son rather than the loss of the kingdom's heir. Of course, he trains him to be a future ruler, but to him it always feels more like lecturing his son. He tries to keep it official, but they both know they're just putting up a face.
5. love and marriage?
Damn, all these questions are REALLY tricky for Mithé. He loved Alurié deeply. One doesn't just propose to the kingdom's crown princess without meaning it. He was nervous as all hell about it, of course, with all that a marriage to her entailed, but~ he got there, and has made a damn fine king in the end X3 I think he's a bit of a romantic, really. Love first, then figure out all the complicated practicalities later. That'll be why he hasn't forced Nolryn to marry, despite him being 23 by the time Silent Harmony gets going and still a bachelor (Raykinian men traditionally marry the full moon after their 20th birthday.) He knows Nol will find someone eventually, best not to pressure him into it =3
6. children?
Mithé wanted three or four kiddies, initially, then when his wife died giving birth to his first, he could barely spend more than a few minutes with him before he started grieving too much for Alurié. He absolutely hated himself for this, and tried to use the traditional Meet The Royals thing when Nol was seven for a bit of father son bonding. Then the twins rocked up at the palace a coupla years later, and he went SCORE~~~ kiddies with no bad connotations =D Weird kiddies, but kiddies nonetheless. So they helped him to look at Nol in a different light--his son, not the reason for his wife's death--and they all lived happily ever after. Relatively. Yay! I babbled way too much there.
7. their fellow man?
As I mentioned for... some other question, Mithé does what he can to keep everything fair for everyone, but he realistically knows he can't please everyone. Just keep as many people happy as he can and that's as much as he can do.
8. the law?
Mithé is not the law. He leaves all that to the crime department until they feel they really need him for something, then he'll intervene as needs be. Again, he tries to be fair and see all sides of the issue before releasing his kingly wrath on anyone X3
9. duty?
Completely bound by it. If he feels his emotions getting in the way at any point, he'll take a break to let them run their course, then get back to it.
10. rulers/leaders?
He has a healthy respect for most of them, but of course the majority of Kazinian queens, not least of all their empress, frustrate the living hell out of him. He hates that none of them will accept responsibility for anything that happens in their own territory, and how money is quite literally everything to Kazinian rulers.
11. the truth?
Mithé doesn't believe in sugar coating things. He's very blunt, refreshingly at times, scathingly at others. He will lie if he thinks it will get things done more efficiently, but he always has a reason for it.
12. violence?
Avoid it at all costs. This is what frustrates him most about Kazinians, their belief that violence will solve everything. Go to war with another state and that will shut them up and make them see things your way. Not Mithé's way of doing things. Unfortunately though, he can't quite see when words just will not work, and there needs to be some more substantial intervention.
13. arguments?
So long as they're not with Kazinians or Llayans, Mithé doesn't mind having an arguement with someone. Kazinians tend to just end in screaming matches, and Llayans fill theirs with empty rhetoric that he can easily see through. Raykinians and Tsaythis, on the other hand, try to get their arguement sorted before they come in, they know what they're talking about, and they're slightly more willing to concede his point. In turn, he's more willing to concede theirs if he can see it.
14. injustice?
Tricky, tricky business. Mithé wants to hear both sides to any situation before he lays anything down, but he knows that's just wishful thinking. He doesn't believe there's any excuse for murder though, and while he'll listen to their reasoning and do something about it if he can (like close down a smuggling ring or track down an assassin's employer), it'd have to be pretty bloody extreme for him to allow them to live.
15. promises?
Mithé never makes promises, because he doesn't know if he can fulfil them. He doesn't let other people make promises to him either.
16. failure?
Failure is giving up. If you stuff up the first time, learn from that and try again, then in Mithé's eyes, that's not failure. People are human, strangely enough. They make mistakes, they learn, they try again.
17. forgiveness?
Ties in with his attitudes towards failure. Actions speak louder than words, so if someone makes moves to repair their mistake, without necesarily giving a flat out 'sorry,' Mithé's likely to forgive them just for that.
18. adventure?
Nup, not a big fan of that. He'll leave that to the adventurers, ie his Own.
19. learning?
He's not against it so much as he believes he's learnt it all by now. He's been around a while. He knows what he's talking about.
20. new experiences?
Not a big fan of them either. In his line of work, a new experience is generally a bad one. Drought, major fight breaking out in the city, floods, fires in the barley crops on the northern border, all bad stuff. If it's a good new experience, on the other hand, he's all there X3
And thus we conclude. Mithé is more confusing and complicated than I gave him credit for xX;
