What is Yan's attitude towards...?
1. life in general?
...Yeah~ why am I doing Yan again? >> Life... is... bloody... I don't know oO He hasn't lived in centuries. Life is better than death. Being dead sucks monkey balls. He continues his existence though, cos he does have one big goal that I know and you don't. Muha.
2. death?
Death sucks. He hates death, very, very strong opinion on that. Dying was so painful for him that he wouldn't wish it on anyone. Since he died four millennia ago, very, very few people have died by his hand.
3. friends?
Nup, he's a loner. No need for friends.
4. family?
His family was everything to him when he was alive, and even now he hasn't gotten over it. Why should he have to go on when they've been at peace all this time? More than anything, he wants to be with them. Taking the reins of a kingdom, Raykin or otherwise? Easy as. Bringing his family back? Not so much.
5. love and marriage?
Waaaaay back when Yan married, it was arranged by the parents from either side. Love didn't enter into it until afterwards. Misses her liek woah now though.
6. children?
Depends on his mood. Sometimes they're refreshingly honest, sometimes they're just annoying little brats. His own kids though, they're the ones he misses most, especially his eldest daughter.
7. their fellow man?
No idea. Honestly, I haven't got the faintest. Depends on what decade/century/millennium you look at him. Sometimes they're pawns, sometimes he wants to protect them, sometimes they're stupid, naive little creatures and sometimes they're intelligent and interesting to have an arguement with. Sometimes Raykin are his allies, sometimes it's Kazin. That's one of the most difficult aspects of his character, what he thinks of those around him. I honestly just don't know. I think the only constant is that he loves his family, and with his immediate family dead and burried, that now means the desert people. They're always allies and there to be protected. Everyone else tho? Hell knows.
8. the law?
Meh. It changes all the time, and none of it applies to him anyway, sooooo meh.
9. duty?
What duty? He's dead.
10. rulers/leaders?
Puppets, for the most part. He comes across a smarter one every now and then, but in an existence spanning 4000 years, they're few and far between. Very few of them can see the bigger picture, which is a bit unfair, really. Not everyone's seen the entire history of the continent from back before there were any kingdoms =P
11. the truth?
For some reason, he's very strong on this point. Yan doesn't lie, ever. He won't necessarily elaborate unless he's asked to (case in point: ask him if he sleeps, and he'll just answer with 'no.' Nothing about how sleep scares the living hell out of him, or that it's actually the yrae stone that he uses to stay awake) but he'll never lie. What reason would he have to?
12. violence?
Completely, totally and utterly pointless. Waste of time, waste of life, waste of energy, just a general waste. He doesn't exactly feel compassion for anyone involved in wars, just gets very frustrated with the rulers who declared it. There are far more effective and efficient ways of doing things. More fun, too.
13. arguments?
Arguements are fun, presuming he's got a worthy adversary. If Yan has an arguement with someone, that's quite a compliment, since he thinks they're worth argueing with. Otherwise he'd just bugger off and find something more interesting.
14. injustice?
Day to day injustice, meh. The riverfolks' prejudice against the desert people? That gets him pissy, and it frustrates him that the desert people aren't willing to do anything about it, either.
15. promises?
Promises are temporary, so meh. He's very indifferent to a lot of things, really.
16. failure?
He never sees himself as a failure--he's one step up from what most dead guys can achieve, quite literally. Other people... depends on his mood and how big the failure. Most often he'll just shrug it off, because in that bigger picture, one person's failure really doesn't matter. Occasionally though, it does. Like that one person started a war instead of quietly overthrowing the king like he was supposed to. Bad, bad idea to make enemies of Yan, even if you don't realise it immediately.
17. forgiveness?
AHAHAHAHAH no. Never. He bears HUGE grudges, and he'll never act upon them immediately. He'll work behind the scenes, turning more and more people against the one he's got a grudge with until finally, they all let it out on the person instead. Much more fun that way.
18. adventure?
Erm... yeah. Being dead kinda takes the adventure out of adventuring.
19. learning?
He's learning all the time. The world keeps changing and he keeps watching it happen. Nobody can actually teach him, of course. Learns it on his own. University of life experience and all that. Or death experience. Whatever.
20. new experiences?
He creates new experiences for himself. The world can only entertain him itself for so long, so he stirs things up a bit. Like making his own tv show =D
