Kayani ~ stage 2
Apr. 1st, 2010 10:44 pmSo Kayani have colour now! Finally. Sort of.

Basicbasicbasic idea. They're almost as varied as people, I think, but the dark end of the spectrum isn't as dark because dark skin is hard to colour and I'm shallow like that. But yes. The standards~ are the stripes, which are always darker than the base colour and dip down to a point at the spine, and the white palms and patches around the eyes, which are lined along the inside with the same dark colour of their stripes. Can barely see on such a small scale, but eh, I'll do a face at some point. White palms because I reckon they could use that with dancing, flicking from the dark back of the hand to the white palm for a bit of interest. I like hands, duh.
Head also has the stripes, so that if they were shaved to a crew cut there'd be, I dunno, half a dozen dark horizontal lines across their head. Gives their hair the appearance of having streaks a little bit. The white patches around their eyes also extends into the hair, about the size of a palm print. Hair is aaaalways long and intricately braided. I just got lazy with the braiding bit.
Eyes~ any colour under the sun. WOO!
Men have the same markings, but they're less contrasted than the ladies, much fainter stripes.

Mmm, jpeggy. Clothes for warm weather! In glorious sketch form becauseI'm too lazy to colour I'm still toying with them. I think basically anything goes so long as it's flowy. These'd all be in beautiful bright colours for the youngins, who are looking to attract a rich man to buy her, or more subdued but still stunning colours for the ladies who aren't on the market, thank you very much.
Cooler weather, still working on it. I think they'd have furs, but not sure. They're veggies, so they'd only be killing the animals for their fur, and I'm not quiiiite sure if they'd go that way or not. I think they would, but yeah, working on 'em.
edit~ Oh also, they have an actual god now, of sorts. The Author. They're all characters in the Author's story, but of course, no author can control or even know every turn their story is going to take. The Author might have a main character or three and their associated friends, family, enemies, who they know everything about, but who can know? Coincidences in life might be just that, or they might be the Author setting up your plot nice and neatly for you. The big events, like a major storm that fells a couple of their giant trees, you can be pretty certain that's the Author tossing things up a bit.
And then there's the Artist, who paints the sky in the evening and decorates butterfly wings. All the pretties of nature, that's the Artist.
