Yrae Feathers
Jan. 3rd, 2014 12:54 amSo about, what, three years after I decided the yrae stones are now feathers, I've finally designed the said feathers.

First up, Yan! Whose feather is based on the rivulets created in the sand when the tide runs back into the sea, or indeed when it rains in the desert and little rivulets flow into a creek. That curved motif that's repeated all over it is also in the Raykinian royal insignia (see any picture ever of Nol). Ideally it'd be shiny blue abalone shell, because of course the Raykinian royal colour is blue, but if it's not that's no biggie. The yrae itself is blue so I can always say that's where the blue comes from.

Next up, Yamin's feather! Also based on sand rivulets but of a much different look. It was specifically that second one from the left on the photo that I was playing with. This one would be straight up white mother-of-pearl, ideally. It's a nice soft Yamin-y pattern :D

Finally Nimay's! Whose is not based on rivulets but still on sand, in the form of sand dunes. Bloody easy to draw this one, just a wiggle down the middle instead of a regular straight feather line. Solid and strong for my warrior girlie. I have no idea what that shell is exactly but the two-tone is cool.
Actual size for all of them is about 2.5cm tall. Next step is to find someone who can carve these for me. Wish me luck 8D;;;

Date: 2014-01-02 03:24 pm (UTC)I've possibly found someone on Etsy, on holidays at the moment but they take custom orders and have the right sort of thing in their gallery.
For these, I'm doing it properly and going for the proper shells, purely because omfg owning my actual real yrae feathers? HELL YES. omg can't wait.
