Vermilion! Which I've been waiting for autumn to hit for ages to be able to do. Candlewood, as is every town in Llayad these days, is named after a house near where I live. I believe but am not certain that the house was named after this tree out the front, which has also made it into Candlewood town in Llayad. It's dead straight, mostly white trunk, and with leaves that go solid yellow like that in autumn, so it looks like a giant candle. It's also got these big sort of candle buds at the end of its branches but they're still green. Most of the tree's still green, but I stole a few yellow ones yesterday on the way home from work, that one I ended up using being the most perfect. I ended up with a couple of versions, with one, three or seven leaves, but I think this one works best. Still not sold though. The others are pretty =3

Velvet from Spotlight, bought WAY more than I needed but whatever. 'Spretty sodding red.



Tooth and Claw was tricky. Lots of little bits to it making it hard to pull together into a cohesive image. I also tried just scattering all the bits, piling the teeth and claws up in a neat little pile and circling them with the goldy bits, making a radiating pattern, and variations on what I've ended up going with, too. This works best, but still, tricky one to pull together.

Teeth and claws from etsy, little charm thingies from the same trip to Spotlight, and the coin belt is a necklace from... idk Dotti or somewhere. It was cheap. I've been sitting on all this stuff for a while but couldn't be bothered getting all the gear out for just one cover, so waited for autumn to do at least one other.

So that just leaves Dragon Boy, for which I need the sodding maple to hurry up and autumn already (the birch is ready enough but omfg the damn maples are all staying bright sodding green) and all those that use the yrae feathers (Desert Sapphire and of course the four of Silent Harmony), which are currently being made for me. Which is actually six covers but I just need the four items for them, three of which come at the same time. SO CLOSE. omg I want my yrae feathers.

I'm kind of ".... eh" with Vermillion. I love Tooth and Claw but something about Vermillion seems very stark. Like not enough like that's fabric and the leaf seems so flat... I mean its vibrant but I'd like maybe to see veins in it, or the stem, and more folds in the fabric. /critique.

Alternatives! And I can probably fudge around with the colours more to bring the velvet up more or something. I've possibly had the image in my head for so long that I'm finding it hard to tear away from it and it's harder to recognise when it's not working, so thanking you for the critique <3!

I'm quite pleased with how Tooth and Claw has come out, looking at it a day on now.

I rather agree with drazzi. I feel like the leaf needs a bit more texture (possibly due to the lighting?)

Lighting was basically an overcast day outside, same as for the other photos, so I could get that nice soft diffused light, but for some reason it seemed to kill ALL the contrast on Vermilion. I was really expecting the velvet to come up more than it did, I must say. Those leaves don't have a lot of texture to them, though, unless they're dodgy and unpretty. I was tempted to get some golden ash leaves instead but I think they'd be too small and delicate. The smallest of these is the size of your palm.

It is a tricky one. I can certainly see what you mean about the ash leaves. Do you think drazzi's suggestion will work out? The multi-leaf shot does offer a bit more texture.

I like the many leafed one best, but I like the colouring of the velvet better in the 3 leaf one *nods*

*nodnod* I can Photoshop the two together, I have that power >D Probably fix that up on the weekend because I am le tired and just feel like plonking in front of the telly now.
