Character 100-ish 050: Riona

This isn't halfway, btw. Also I keep forgetting to add, feel free to ask any questions! I may end up making things up on the spot for most of them, but go for it :D


I think she's possibly a bit too yellow. Raykinian skin tone is really hard to get right .-.

BRIEF BIO Riona was born and grew up in a typical desert group of 20-ish people. Her group was very traditional, still believing in arranged marriages and the same prejudice against Riverfolk that Riverfolk have against them. To Riona, she just heard a lot of people complaining about their lot in life, but too stubborn to change it and move to the river. It was at 22, when she was on the edge of being forced into a relationship that she finally got fed up, and ran away from her family group.
She found her way to Ni-Yana (because desert magic, she knows where water and other desert people are) and, because she's a resourceful girl and didn't want to just float around and survive, she spent a few days figuring out how the city worked. She managed to pretend well enough that she'd been living years in the city to get a job working in the laundry at the palace, and got a little place for herself (palace policy, all palace staff are provided with free accommodation if they want it. It's not great, so only the really pov people get them, but they're free and great if you're starting out.)
Believe it or not I haven't worked out yet how she and Mehni, the twins' father, met, and I'd rather that not be just a random thing made up in a meme, so I'll see if I can think something up by the time Mehni comes up. So anyway, they met a year or so after she'd arrived in Ni-Yana, married a year after that, then along came the twins a year after that.
So for seven years she raised her little girls, pretty much living her dream of having someone who loved her and raising a family. She kept working her job at the palace while Mehni owned his pub, until~ Silent Harmony started happening and I and Yan killed them both.

CHARACTER Happy, hard working, never takes anything for granted. She's very protective of her girls, always keeping them close or with people she trusts absolutely. Her daughters are her life.

POINTS OF INTEREST

Riona loves telling desert stories to Yamin and Nimay. She's particularly good at putting on the voices of the characters.

Riona's favourite meal to cook is vegetables in a big, thick, hearty stew with a tomatoey sauce, served in a communal bowl for dipping flatbread into.

Riona has pale hands from working in the laundry.

They met reaching for the final food thing at a food vendors. Their hands touched, the laughed awkwardly and argued over who would get it. Then whoever insisted the other got it finally gave up with the promise "Next time you'll get it". A next time did happen a few weeks later at the same stall. A third time they both got their food, but insisted on paying for the other. The forth time, the stall owner demanded they stop flirting at her stall.

So they flirted somewhere else instead.
