Neither the birch nor the maple, in the end, came from our garden, because hail stripped most of the yellow birch leaves, and the maple is still all green but for a dusting of red at the very top. But there's a magnificent little maple by the railway station, and running along that is Birch Road which is not inaccurately named, so I found twigs there to serve my purpose. FINALLY. I've been watching this maple all week hoping it wouldn't lose its leaves before the weekend.

Also made one for the shorts, just because the hack job kind of stands out against all my pretty ones on the Yrae Chronicles page. Strip of Raykin, Kazin, Llayad and Tsayth. My bits of casuarina had stared going MOULDY so I washed them off (they looked like a jar full of fuzzy spider legs. It was great. Only not.) and stuck them in the oven to dry them out properly. They've lost a lot of green but still enough there to look green on a cover, and no moisture left to go manky. So yay!

All of 'em together! There are less words there than it looks--Gold is a work in progress and hence Steel hasn't even been planned yet, let alone written. BHY, Griffin's Gift, Tooth and Claw and Dragon Boy are all shorts of about 10k so not even one novella-length between them. Still, 'bout a million words there all up, including the shorts. ACTUALLY YEAH I must be close to that target *checks* ONE MILLION EIGHT THOUSAND THREE HUNDRED AND SIXTY SEVEN. DAMNIT I MISSED MY MILESTONE BY EIGHT THOUSAND. Oh well. That's a lotta words :D The millionth word, according to MSWord, was 'mistaken'. Yep, sure was.
Just for a bit of tidying up, I'd like a smaller black feather to redo the SH covers and make the yrae feathers more prominent. I've got a smaller seagull feather for Yamin and keep scouring the ground for a crow/magpie feather to match it in size.
Obviously I want a better blue feather for Desert Sapphire. You can see by comparing the red sand to all the other Raykinian covers how much I had to Photoshop that bastard to get it as bright as it is and it's still pretty washed out. It's a step up from the original feather, but not much of a step. Does that thing look like it came from a mythical bird with untold magic powers in its tail feather? Hell no.
Finally, better bouquet for Bouquet. I started on these early in summer, by which point most of the wildflowers were finished, so I was only left with what's there, and it's a bit of a ragged bunch.
All minor stuff that'd just be nice to tidy up. For now though, I'm happy :D
