Character 100-ish 054: Queen Alurié

I would pick one of the three characters with an accent while I'm on the laptop and can't just TYPE the accent. Oh well.
She doesn't look quite as imperious as I think she should.
NAME Queen Alurié of Raykin
WHO IS THIS PERSON Most recent queen of Raykin, also Prince Nolryn's mother
GENDER Female
AGE deceased age 30
BRIEF BIO Right I'm going to shake things up a bit here and say Alurié had a sister, an older sister, who died of a snake bite when they were both children. Purely because it doesn't make sense for there to only be one royal child. The sister was always the one in line to the throne, which made young Alurié incredibly jealous of her. She was constantly trying to upstage her big sister but just came off as the spoiled brat she was. Then, when the said sister died and left Alurié as the soul heir, Alurié jumped on the opportunity. Her parents tried to have another child, without Alurié's knowledge, but I guess they were too old to conceive by then.
So spoiled brat Princess Alurié grew up to be queen. However much her parents tried to instil the right attitude into her, the more she rebelled. AND THEN, on the Winter Solstice when she was 17, Alurié met Mithé. Now, young Alurié had always had a bit of a thing for blade archers, and Mithé was training to be one at the time. She watched the trainees and soon approached him to take her to dinner some night. Mithé, being a very level-headed and politically minded kind of guy (despite being a blade archer. Yeah that was never going to last, Mithé) took the opportunity here to try and get his future ruler to take some more responsibility.
Alurié was pretty much smitten. She followed him to training every day and started making more of an effort in the ruling the kingdom side of things, just to please him. On seeing her determination, and how she really was listening to him, Mithé began to fall in love with her, too. On the third anniversary after they'd first met, he proposed to her, and they married the following summer, as per Raykinian tradition, on the full moon after Mithé's 20th birthday.
Alurié continued to learn her responsibilities, more from Mithé than from her parents, and almost looked like being a halfway decent queen for a while there. Her father died when she was 23; her mother two years later. Alurié and Mithé were crowned queen and king of Raykin and there was much rejoicing.
Only Alurié was a bit of a shit queen. She tried to take Mithé's advice, until it started to feel more to her like nagging and like he didn't respect her (which is lies, Mithé was about the only one at that point who DID respect her) and she frequently threw hissy fits.
After just five years ruling, Alurié fell pregnant with Nolryn, annnnnd we all know where that went. Died on the birthing bed, people went 'hooray no more shit queen!' then realised the next king was going to be not much better and went 'godamnit maybe she should've stayed on to make at least one more baby.' POLITICS YAY.
CHARACTER Alurié never lost her brattishness. It dulled a little while she was courting Mithé but then flared back into the fore when she was crowned queen and had supreme rule over everyone. All those years of trying to make her take responsibility didn't really dull the bratty little princess she started out as.
POINTS OF INTEREST
Mithé was the only one to ever see her vulnerabilities. To everyone else she was the tiny but powerful woman who used her power to improve her own life rather than Raykin's.
Even after marrying Mithé, she still liked to watch the trainee blade archers work their craft.
She doesn't look quite as imperious as I think she should.

She so pretty though :3 Nol got such pretty from her.
