Well, I said I just needed a blade archer to complete the Own set... *facepalm*

NAME Dagger Master Nihqel
WHO IS THIS PERSON Current blade archery master for the Raykinian army, teaching trainees how to throw blades and fight with daggers. Also a former rider with the King's Own, the fifteen best warriors in the kingdom.
GENDER Male
AGE 49
BRIEF BIO Nihqel grew up in Ni-Yana's upper-middle class as the son of two pub owners. They lived upstairs and the pub was downstairs, so he and his brothers started out life helping out there, mostly in the scullery out the back and later behind the bar. That pub, I've just decided right now, is now the best pub in Ni-Yana, the Golden Thrai, and Kal the proprietor is Nihqel's big brother. Cos why not.
He also hooked up with one of the serving staff, and married her as per Raykinian tradition on the full moon following his 20th birthday. They have kids who I'm not bloody making for this challenge because Nihqel's barely a side-character on his own anyway.
So while his big brother was working to take over the reins of what was already a high-ranking pub, Nihqel instead signed up for army training. He was one of the dedicated ones, training even when he didn't have to, and was marked as a future Own rider from pretty early on, though it was a couple of years after graduation that he finally broke into those elite ranks.
While in the Own he was part of the royal meet-and-greet, introducing the new little Prince Nolryn to the rest of the world, and counts the experience as one of the best in his life, seeing the world beyond the dirty fighting of Kazin. He was bored stiff for a good part of it, but looking back now he's glad he did it.
He was kicked out of the Own by Kaen four years later and was reasonably happy to go by then. Following in his best mate Naraan's footsteps, he became the new blade archery master in the army and trained up Nimay and Nolryn, and there he stays.
CHARACTER Needlessly verbose but fun and cheeky. Nihqel enjoys mocking anyone who isn't a blade archer, but he cares for all the boys he trains and knows when to back off or when the other kids are giving them a hard time.
POINTS OF INTEREST
Nihqel calls his daggers his 'pointy things' as distinct from his sword which is the 'long pointy thing' and the palu which is just 'that stupid thing'.
Nihqel was best mates with Naraan when they were both in the Own, and the friendship continued long after that. SEE it is possible for archers and blade archers to be mates!
Nihqel also likes to threaten the current two blade archers with his current crop of trainees, earmarking them for taking their places in the coming years, Kaen especially.
Nihqel is not the reason the Thrai is the favoured pub of the Own these days, though he'd like you to believe that.
