As ever, ask questions if you have any and I'll do my best to answer them! I will probably be making up a lot of stuff on the spot but whatever.

NAME Kal
WHO IS THIS PERSON Proprietor of the Golden Thrai, one of the most famous and also best pubs in Ni-Yana, Raykin's capital
GENDER Male
AGE 53
BRIEF BIO Kal always knew he was going to take over the reins of the Golden Thrai, which was a popular pub even back when his parents were running it. He started out in the scullery as all boys will, with his brother Nihqel who we met a week or so ago and who is now the blade archery master at the palace. But as big brother, the Thrai was always going to be Kal's. So he was taught to read and do maths and understand beer at a young age, including--and this is a rare thing for Raykinians--its dangers. This, his parents told him, was the key to successful pub ownership. Tipsy patrons are fine, they're just having fun and enjoying your product, but let too many of them go too far and you start getting the reputation of one of Those Pubs, the ones people just go to to get drunk and use the booze as an excuse to start brawls.
So young Kal was brought up with a healthy respect for what he would inevitably be selling. He married at twenty, as all good Raykinian boys do, to a lovely young lady called Mumbli! Who is Sallie's character. Mumbli... may or may not have come from a pub owning family. idk ask Sallie. But they were very much in love and damn they made a smexy couple. But then~ sourness happened. I don't think we've planned all the details but basically Mumbli had a miscarriage. In her view, Kal wasn't supportive enough. In Kal's view, Mumbli didn't get over it. We're talking years, here, but still. Bit of a dick move, Kal. So Mumbli left and... either started her own pub or took over her family's pub, Big Jugs. She'd learnt well from her time in Kal's family and built up what would become the other most famous and also best pub in Ni-Yana.
It was around about then that Kal met a promising young brewer with a particularly promising brew that they called the Liquid Sunset. Knowing exactly what he had here, Kal made a deal to be the sole reseller of the said Sunset in Raykin, and with it the Thrai was propelled into the status it enjoys today. SEE brother Nihqel had nothing to do with it.
CHARACTER Jovial, open and chatty and a complete gossip whore. Publicans in Raykin are pretty much equated to a combination of chatty flirty barrista and chatty gossipy hairdresser. They know everything about everyone, and Kal is the epitome of this. He's a strict boss with his bar wenches (half of whom are blokes but stuff it they're all wenches, including Kal) but knows how to keep the balance and encourages them all to chat to the patrons as much as serve them. He's proud of them and his pub, and he lets them know it. Not at all stingey, he pays like they've earned it.
POINTS OF INTEREST
Kal calls himself a bar wench more often than he does his bar wenches.
Nobody is allowed to pour the Liquid Sunset but Kal. He's always told the bar wenches that if they get on a first-name basis with Prince Nolryn they'll be allowed to pour it AND get a gold coin a day pay rise. Nobody has yet achieved this status. Nol knows nothing about it. Poor ignorant sod.
