Character 100-ish 072: Lolana
Jun. 15th, 2014 12:19 amAnd a third! :O Though I probably won't have her profile finished before midnight. We'll see.

After a run of awesome noses I think I stuffed Lolana's up. Sorry hun.
NAME Lolana
WHO IS THIS PERSON First Company swordswoman and wife of Ulkar, one of the current swordsmen in the King's Own, Raykin's fifteen best warriors and honestly if you don't know who they are by now you haven't been paying attention.
GENDER Female
AGE 33
BRIEF BIO Lolana's parents were merchants down in Ni-Yuyaa, reasonably close to the mouth of the Ra-Lin, but because of their desert heritage they weren't particularly successful merchants. Lolana disliked the small-mindedness of the town and ran away from home at fifteen to join the army, because she's always been a fiery sort and wanted to learn better how to defend herself as much as anything.
In her training she was partnered with Ulkar, and the two fast became competitive friends, each always egging the other on to be better. In fifth year of training, when they were twenty, Lolana and Ulkar married. They both graduated into Second Company at the end of their training, but quickly rose up to First within the year. After three years together, Lolana was offered the chance to take up the Own challenge, but this was very shortly after Gylepi was accepted in, and she wasn't ready to face the sort of ridicule he was getting for being half-desert, so she turned the offer down.
Ulkar was offered the Own challenge about a year later and he did make it in. After Ulkar's first mission, she was offered the chance to try again but declined this time because she was pregnant, yaaaay! Since her son Theri was born, she hasn't taken up the Own challenge again, though she's definitely good enough to make it in now, because at least one of them has to be home for Theri and, since Ulkar had already had a taste of it and was the better swordsman, he kept his position since there was marginally less chance of him being killed.
They also have a second son, Yarmi, who's now four and apparently deserves his own paragraph.
CHARACTER Fiery and highly opinionated. Lolana has dealt with a lot of prejudice in her life, and is more than willing to face it head on rather than ignore it. She's calmed down a little since her rebellious teenage years, but if ever she hears a negative comment about her desert heritage she'll swing right around and target whoever said it. So long as you're willing to accept her as a desert person, though, she's fiercely loyal and will be your friend for life. In those occasions, Lolana is joking and gregarious, loves a drink with the girls and a bit of sword play with the boys. She's also a complete workaholic/fitness freak despite having no ambition to go for a position in the Own.
POINTS OF INTEREST
The picture's slightly inaccurate. Normally Lolana has the headband in to keep her hair back, except when she's in uniform and training when she ties it back in a ponytail. So I dunno maybe she's getting changed or something.
Aelen, Melraan's wife, is her bestie. The two of them are absolutely inseparable. Nimay comes in at number two. SISTAAAAS.
Ulkar is a shortarse. Lolana is undiluted desert blood and therefore a giant. They both like to say he's the perfect height for her because he's at boob height. She has to bend her knees to kiss him. They are SO ADORABLE.
Lolana hires house help, nannies and cooks and such, but only to give herself a little breathing room. Mostly she does everything for her boys and just every now and then needs a day off.
Lolana is terrible at keeping secrets. She lets slip birthday presents every freaking year.
Her desert magic isn't as strong as that of those who've grown up in the desert and have had to use it every day to survive, but she does have enough that she can hear Nimay's words.

After a run of awesome noses I think I stuffed Lolana's up. Sorry hun.
