Character 100-ish 097: Palu Master Goneb

I'm really getting bored of inventing elite warrior backstories now guys. HOW MANY MORE ARE THERE? AT LEAST THREE. GODDAMNIT.
His teeth weren't working. So I punched them out. He uses a palu it's totally legit. Watch I'll even fit it into his backstory.
NAME Palu Master Goneb
WHO IS THIS PERSON Current palu training master at the Raykinian palace. The palu is a long wooden staff with a hand-sized curved blade at each end.
GENDER Male
AGE 48
BRIEF BIO Goneb grew up in the Raykinian borderlands, which are famous for beer production and being invaded by Kazin over the border. Goneb's parents ran a barley farm up there, but rather than want to take over the said farm, Goneb figured he would help the region in a different way, and instead travelled south at 15 to sign up for army training. He signed up for sword training, and his plan was to graduate and move straight back home to pass on his knowledge to the locals and get them all ready to fight when the time came, but things didn't quite work out that way.
In one of his first lessons with the palu, Goneb was whacked solidly in the mouth and lost three and a half front teeth. The other half fell out not long after. After that, Goneb had a grudge against the palu, and decided to master it once and for all. His own palu master told him close to their final exams that Goneb had what it took to really go far with his palu. Sure enough, Goneb passed all his exams well enough, but his swordsmanship only put him somewhere back in Twentieth Company, while his palu score was enough to sit him firmly in Second Company with them. YEAH IRONY. Goneb didn't really care so much, though, and headed back home.
After seven years in the big city, though, small town life wasn't nearly so exciting for him. He got bored and frustrated, and within the year he headed back to Ni-Yana to continue with army life. He first took up the Own challenge at 26, though because he couldn't believe he was being awarded such an opportunity he couldn't concentrate and failed miserably. He was offered the challenge again at 29 and got in this time, and stayed with the Own for only about three years before being forcibly retired (booted out by a younger guy). In that time, he was sent on a couple of missions to the borderlands to defend his hometown, so he was happy he did get to help them out properly in the end.
He started training new recruits at the palace, finding them much more willing students than the farmers on the borderlands, and there he stays. Also I'm sure he has a wife and kids somewhere in that outline. Probably the ultimate reason he moved back to Ni-Yana. Sounds good.
CHARACTER Goneb is one of those people who always has to keep moving. He can't sit and relax with a beer for longer than it takes to drink one and can't understand how others can. He's a stern teacher, especially if he sees any of his students slacking off, knowing that a lot of them consider the palu to be the extra weapon that doesn't really matter, but he treats the actual palu students as his equals.
POINTS OF INTEREST
Goneb likes to make up stories about how he lost his teeth on missions with the King's Own, a different one for every new group of trainees, just to see which one holds for longest.
