15 in 15 #2 ~ Emon
Feb. 6th, 2005 10:43 pmNight two of 15 Own riders in 15 nights. Meet Emon. His character's based on Feeling way too damn good by Nickelback.

Name: Emon
Age: 36
Currently Appearing In: Doesn't really appear specifically, rather as the collective group known as the King's Own
Orientation: Straight, but will probably start leaning towards gay if his current girlfriend ditches him.
Origin: Ni-Mytaa, city of about 2000 people east of Ni-Yana (map)
Significant Other(s): Girlfriend in Ni-Mytaa, who he doesn't see too often. He's working on getting her to move to Ni-Yana.
Background: As far as army life goes, he's had a pretty normal life: brought up in an upper-middle-class home, started training when he was 15, did pretty well with all his final exams but excelled with his sword, and spent five years with the army before he was admitted to the Own. He actually tried for a spot two years earlier, but didn't get in.
In the more personal arena, he really hasn't had great luck with women. He had four girlfriends before he finally got married at 20 (as does pretty much every good Raykinian boy), but she died three years later from a thrai bite. His next girlfriend left him when he didn't make it into the Own, and the one after that left him when he did. Poor boi. For the next two years or so, he had on-and-off relationships with various girls, but they were of course only there for the fame. It was on the return journey from his second mission with the Own that he met his current girlfriend. He goes to Ni-Mytaa once a year or so, and gets her to come over to Ni-Yana about as often. Currently in the process of trying to convince her to move to Ni-Yana.
Employment: First Company swordsman and rider for the King's Own.
Appearance: Very clean-cut. Keeps his hair cropped short so it's not so much of a nuisance when he's training/fighting. Average height for a Raykinian (shortarse by anyone else's standards), obviously well-built since he wields a sword for hours each day. Not the prettiest face going around, but he has got a lovely smile. Scars here and there, as has every member of the Own. Missing a finger.
Distinguishing Characteristics: He has no pinkie on his left hand--he lost it in one of the more recent campaigns to Kazin, in the same battle that Rau, the previous General of the Own, was killed. For a while after that he lots a lot of power with his swordfighting, and he'll probably lose his spot in the Own once the next contender comes along because of this. Still, he's 36, so he's been with them for a while.
Quirks: He finds it very hard to trust anyone, especially women. However, once his trust has been won, he's incredibly loyal. Very agreeable, he won't say if he doesn't like an idea or not, but you can usually tell--he tends to rub his upper arms as though warding off a chill when he doesn't like something.
Sin-of-Anger: Emon is extremely patient. His temper fuse is a really long one, and when it finally burns down, rather than blow up, he'll simply turn his back on a situation and leave.
Sin-of-Envy: Up until he met his current girlfriend, he envied every guy with a wife, now he just envies the ones who are fortunate enough to live in the same city as her, which doesn't really narrow it down all that much, but there you go.
Sin-of-Pride: He's overly modest, so much so that you can just tell he's fishing for praise.
Sin-of-Gluttony: He lives alone in Ni-Yana--he only cooks as much as he's going to eat, otherwise it's just a waste of time and energy.
Sin-of-Lust: Only when he's with his girlfriend, otherwise he supresses it.
Sin-of-Avarice: He's really only greedy for time with his girlfriend--he's been known to stay back in Ni-Mytaa for a week or more when the rest of the guys continued on home to Ni-Yana.
Sin-of-Sloth: He's a workoholic, which is probably partly the reason why half the other girls left him. Married to the job, as it were.
Virtues: Emon's a lovely boy. He knows how to cook, but not with any great finesse, and he's very caring.
...this is making him sound like a freaking saint. He's not. His biggest downfall is that he's a complete pessimist. The glass is always closer to empty than it is to full. As soon as something starts going right, he's so expectant on something going wrong that he really brings it on himself. Bit of a dampner on just about any party.

Date: 2005-02-06 08:21 am (UTC)Obviously the retired Own rider wouldn't be able to keep it, there's no way they'd put it down, and they wouldn't resign a warhorse to ploughing fields or pulling wagons... I figure they either send it back to Kazin, or whoever gets the new spot in the Own ends up with it, depending on what they decide.
