Hah! I didn't forget tonight =D Rider the ninth, Murali, whose character is based off the song The World is Not Enough by Garbage. Just another five left, and I already know two of them. Hurrah!
Name~ Murali
Age~ 39
Currently Appearing In~ I think he's had his name mentioned in one mini!fic... other than that, just part of the collective Own.
Orientation~ Straight
Origin~ Ni-Yana, capital of Raykin
Significant Other(s)~ Wife
Background~ Murali's the eldest of six, and all four of the boys ended up training for the army, so Murali's always had a competetive streak. They grew up in one of the villas of Ni-Yana's high end, complete with servants and all the rest of it--Murali's father was the Second General of the archers. All of this has made Murali an incredibly ambitious person, and rather than set his sights on being one of the Own, as most boys do, he aimed to go to a step higher than his father and be First General. Being in the Own is just second best, far as he's concerned. He shares Nol's aspirations for taking over Kazin, which can only be a bad thing.
Anyway. He was offered a chance to go for a spot in the Own four years after he passed his final exams, but he declined. Various generals, the guys who were already in the Own (bar the archers, of course) and even Mithé kept pestering him to go for a place until he finally caved in and made it when he was 30.
He's also unique in that he was bumped out of the Own at one point (by Nol), but only missed one mission before he was back in again. During that mission, one of the other archers--Naraan, who was also 'may's and Nol's archery master--was killed, and so by default, Murali got back in again. He still hasn't lost sights on being First General tho.
Employment~ First Company archer and rider for the King's Own
Appearance~ Bit on the short side, sloping shoulders. Shoulder-length, straight hair that he usually wears half-up. Murali's also another of those blokes who can look seriously scary if he wants to (I mean, look at the chibi =0 wouldn't want to cross that in a dark alley...). He's got deep-set eyes and bushy eyebrows, so yeah, he can be pretty damn nasty-pastie if he feels like it. Scars here there and everywhere, as you'd expect from someone who's been in the Own for a decade, and to Kazin more times than he can count.
Distinguishing Characteristics~ Scar on the side his face that comes dangerously close to his left eye, crossed by another that reaches from his ear to his nose.
Quirks~ During battle, he likes to talk up to the opposition, whether he's practicing or doing it for real, regardless as to whether his opponant can actually understand a word he's saying. He's always nervous before they depart on a mission, but once they're on the road he's fine.
Sin-of-Anger~ He's got a malicious streak. Rather than get angry with someone on the spot, he'll take revenge later on.
Sin-of-Envy~ Oh yes, every General in the army, even the Third Generals, but especially Niloren, the First General. Nimay... not so much. The General of the Own earns the same as the other fourteen, and really only the guys in the Own acknowledge who their General is. Nimay gets noticed more by the public for other things, not because she's the General, so no envy for her, just the other Generals. He wants to be First General more for the glory than the coinage.
Sin-of-Pride~ Oh yes, lotta that, but he's more proud of his battle strategy knowledge than physical skills with a weapon. He knows that's not what makes a General, so he couldn't really give a stuff whether he was Own-material or not.
Sin-of-Gluttony~ Nup
Sin-of-Lust~ He's very passionate with his wife, but wouldn't consider it with anyone else.
Sin-of-Avarice~ Nah, ya think? Murali wants way~ more than he's already got. He's not so greedy over coinage as he is over power.
Sin-of-Sloth~ Aeia, no Oo
Virtues~ He's persistant, we'll give him that. Incredibly loyal to his wife, loves her to bits and always brings her something from his missions as an appology for his not being there for the past month or three.
