Back to making stuff up again: Rumal, based on the song Rise and Fall by Craig David.

Name~ Rumal
Age~ 37
Currently Appearing In~ He's had a mention in Silent Harmony, but other than that, he's just part of the collective Own.
Orientation~ Straight
Origin~ Ni-Yana, capital of Raykin
Significant Other(s)~ Single
Background~ Rumal's a bit of a rarity in the Own, in that he was brought up south of the Main Road (the rough end of town). Granted, he was in one of the more upmarket ones, two or three houses back from said road, but as far as those of the northern districts, there's no distinction. He started army training at 15 with all the other boys, thinking like a lot of people that being in the army was quite a cushy job. No wars to fight in, well-paid even if you end up in Seventh Company, and all you have to do is show up to training once every now and then.
He went in with the firm mind that he would just be able to breeze through, so he didn't really try too hard, but when he was introduced to the sword he found that he quite liked it. He trained hard with the sword but couldn't give two hoots about the other weapons, so he promptly failed his first attempt at the final exams. 100% for the sword, but damn near bugger-all for the other stuff. So, he went for another year and just managed to scrape through with the other weapons, winning 100% again for the sword. Two years later he was in the Own, but he hasn't even picked up any of the other weapons since he finally passed.
He married the year after he passed his final exams, and when he got into the Own, the two of them started living the high life. He completely forgot his roots in the southern suburbs, and ended up making everyone who was previously his friend very angry--they tried to come and say hi, but his guards wouldn't let them in. So they came back in the middle of the night and bumped off his wife, only they got caught. Punishment in Raykin for murder is death, so that was the end of them.
So now~ Rumal's a bit down in the dumps. He's lonely, has none of his old friends or his wife and is generally just a very sorry soul. He lived too much of the high life and now he's paying for it.
Employment~ First Company swordsman and rider for the King's Own.
Appearance~ Despite having previously lived in the unsavoury part of Ni-Yana, he's a very clean-cut man. Straight hair that reaches to his shoulder blades and is always tied back in a tight plait. Pretty average height, maybe a smidge taller than average, broad shoulders. Scars again, including four on the back of his right wrist. Norty boi. And~ he's missing his right pinkie, but that's got nothing to do with the four scars.
Distinguishing Characteristics~ The four scars on his right wrist are very distinctive, especially among the Own. For those uneducated in Raykinian law, if you're caught stealing something, you get a blade dragged across the back of your right wrist which leaves a nice ugly scar. If you're caught with four scars, they start chopping your fingers off. He's had a hard time convincing people that his lack of pinkie is from a mission with the Own. He lost it during a battle on 'may and Nol's first mission, during which one of the other guys in the Own died (not the General, different mission).
Quirks~ He's still got his accent from the southern districts, but he's pretty much polished his language up to the standard of the higher end of town. He lapses back into old habits sometimes, when he's incredibly excited or angry. The guys in the Own are always quick to pick up on that.

Sin-of-Anger~ He gets angry whenever any part of his past is mentioned, or his jokes are made about his missing finger. Think 'throwing chairs' kind of angry.
Sin-of-Envy~ He envies someone. He doesn't quite know who or why yet, but he envies someone. He just hates his past.
Sin-of-Pride~ Not a lot of that really. As soon as he does anything he may be proud of, someone always mentions his scars or something like that. Brings him down a peg or two.
Sin-of-Gluttony~ Not really a glutton, but he probably eats about as well as Mithé and Nol do.
Sin-of-Lust~ Yep, lotta that. It kinda lulled for a few years after his wife was killed, but that's back in full-force now.
Sin-of-Avarice~ This is definitely his biggest failure. His greed was what lost him his wife and old friends, and while he curses himself for that every day, he still can't help but spend every coin he earns on himself.
Sin-of-Sloth~ Like I say, hasn't touched a bow, javelin or throwing knife since he passed his final exams. Absolutely dedicated to the sword, but couldn't give a rat's about any other weapon. Also completely lazy around home, since he's got servants and cooks and whoever else.
Virtues~ ...Not a lot. I think he prolly needs another chickadee to dig out any virtues. He knows what he did wrong the first time, he's just unwilling to change anything. Needs someone to bring him out of his rut.

...And~ through writing that, I just remembered something I'd completely forgotten for Murali's thing. The way I'm doing this makes it seem like there were four archers, then Nol got added to the bunch to make five, then one of them died to make four. Doesn't work~ like that, 'narti >< *goes to fix*

edit~ There =D Just the last paragraph of his background, everything else is the same.
