Author~ Annarti
Disclaimer~ All~ mine
Notes~ 15 minute fic, word 104. This was a dodgy word. Way~ too much room for interpretation. What kind of a word is 'challenge'? That could be anything! .-. Still, here we go.

Yamin flicked through the pages of the book in front of her, face growing more and more depressed with every flick. She’d been dreading this part of healer training, but knew that it was one of the most important aspects.
She knew there were a lot of poisonous things in Raykin, but not this many! It seemed as though there were a hundred pages alone for snakes, and another two hundred for spiders. Each page had three specimens, with a charcoal drawing pointing out colours, some information about their habits, a list of symptoms brought on by their poison and antivenoms.
Auin had only told her to memorise what they looked like for now, but she knew the rest would soon follow. Now more than ever she was in awe of how much the practicing healers managed to remember.
She leafed through the pages again, flipping open to a random page halfway through. The snake that stared back at her sent shivers down her spine, even though it was only a charcoal drawing. The thrai was one snake that the entire kingdom knew. Glinting golden body, broad golden head and six brown bands around its neck. Known to attack with little provocation. One bite would cause the victim’s throat to close over so they would start choking. Within a few minutes they would fall to the ground unconscious, and in ten minutes they would be dead. Most frightening was the blank space under the ‘antivenoms’ section.
The young healer shuddered and turned very deliberately to the beginning of the snakes section. Brown snake. She knew that one too. That one didn’t have a known antivenom either. Flicking through the book, Yamin was quite shocked at the number of blank spaces under ‘antivenoms’. It seemed that only about half of the deadly snakes in Raykin were actually curable.
Yamin set her brow in a determined frown. Not only would she memorise all that was written in this book, but she’d eliminate as many of the blank spaces as she was able.
